AFTM, a creative initiative of Wesley Mission Queensland (WMQ), supports, exhibits and promotes the work of artists living with adversity, mental health issues, physical or intellectual disabilities, or experiencing homelessness and social isolation.... 04.01.2022 Artist Statement Thomass visual art journey started 2 years ago when the participated in the footprints annual exhibition. Prior to that, he showed strong interest in music energy live theatre. Audio entering and DJing. Thomas has completed a range of workshops at Brisbane Institute of Arts, and currently has one to one art facilitation on a weekly basis.... Thomass personal journey includes the practice of creative art and mindfulness and storytelling to enhance personal growth through self-actualisation Thomass works explore the tactile organic nature of raw fibres. His use of materials speaks to the entwined forces of humanity and environment while exploring a personal narrative of self-discovery through colour, texture and composition. His intuitive approach references impressionistic and surrealism through landscapes and imagery while allowing the unconscious space to reveal the hidden depths of being in a safe and Gentle Way.
