15.01.2022 Notice to all Moa Arts members The Corona virus has had a big impact on all of our lives and it is likely that there will be many more changes ahead. The situation is still very, very changeable but Moa Arts the organisation is not in any danger of going under. We still get government funding that will allow us to keep trading. So that’s good. The staff at Moa Arts are doing all they can to keep up with the changes. While we have had to close the Art Centre to visitors a...nd artists, we are more focussed on how we can stay productive and continue to deliver services and opportunities to our members. Reality check; the global economy will not be in good shape for the next year, and it will probably take two years to fully recover, so selling artworks is going to be much harder for the next few years. Our number one priority is to lift sales so we are putting a lot of energy into finding new, creative ways to promote our work. We will be doing a lot more work on social media and our website / on-line shop to promote your work. All around the world people are stuck in isolation and they are bored. There are a lot of opportunities for us in that space, to keep them entertained and informed about what’s happening on Mua. That’s what we are focussed on now. We will post information about new projects as they come up, so watch out for us on Facebook. You’ll have noticed we recently changed the name of the ‘Moa Art Classes’ page to ‘Moa Art Members and Friends’. This page is a really important way for us to keep you updated about new opportunities, and for you to give us feedback in real time. Please get in touch with us any time we are here for our members. While being isolated at home will be challenging, it will also give you lots of opportunities to develop your own work. Think about staying busy with printmaking and drawing and making jewellery. We can support you in this by delivering materials to you and collecting your plates for printing. One of the great opportunities that we have is to focus on your creative skills. We can give you one-on-one training with new techniques (while still keeping social distancing) and give you access to information that will help you develop your skills. The main thing is to stay positive and look for new ways to keep busy and productive so that when things turn around, Moa Arts will be in the best possible situation to make the most of it. If we stay strong and positive, we will get through this difficult time. It’s time to count our blessings, be kind to each other and be even kinder to yourself.

04.01.2022 A message to the Kubin and Wug communities from Aaron Fa’Aoso I would like to invite community members to the Kubin RTC this afternoon to discuss and have input into a media strategy that I am developing for the Zenadth Kes region. The Zenadth Kes region is in need of meaningful training, education and career pathways into the media industry. To help create this, I am developing a training and education scoping paper on behalf of the Australian Film Television and Radio s...chool (AFTRS) in Sydney. AFTRS is Australia’s top media, film and television school and they have asked me to help establish a presence for them in the region with the aim of developing our capacity and career opportunities in the media, film and television industries. The Zenadth Kes region has a strong and unique culture, language and way of life, and it is rich in natural talent. The media industry is a sector that we as a people should naturally gravitate towards. Through media we can document, archive, preserve and maintain our languages, stories, culture and way of life. We can also promote and celebrate our region through media and capture our stories, songs and dances for future generations. Media, film and television is such a powerful medium and I would like to encourage the people of the Kubin and Wug villages to come and sit with me this afternoon, so I can further discuss with you the purpose of the Zenadth Kes media scoping exercise. More importantly, this is an opportunity for me to listen to you and hear about your aspirations for the community and the opportunities, training, education and career pathways you would like to experience in your community and the Zenadth Kes region. I look forward to seeing you this afternoon at the RTC at 2:00pm. Spread the word! Keoyma eso, Aaron
