24.01.2022 Huge congratulations to our very own Paula Savage for taking out the Innovation Prize at CIAF 2020. A great achievement after a year of hard work, experimentati...on and looking at new ways of thinking about art. We’re so proud of her! The judges said her repurposing traditional weaving practices to create a woven two-dimensional form is pure genius. This work instantly captured the attention and imagination of the judges. Further still, the artist’s careful consideration of colour and pattern echoes the brilliant colours of the reef, and the steady decline that is happening daily. It also echoes the woven, colourful bags using non-traditional materials.. Watch out for her work in ‘longwater fibre stories’, opening at the Institute of Modern Art in Brisbane on September 4.
