24.01.2022 Every de-escalation in healthcare settings is a unique experience including a range of factors and elements that make it an unpredictable and fluid situation. Here are some considerations for staff members that may make a successful de-escalation more probable.

23.01.2022 During this period of COVID isolation, MOAT: Mental Health Services will be providing all of their training packages remotely, in order to support organisations to keep their workforce updated with high quality professional development opportunities. Organisations are invited to contact Bryan Jeffrey to discuss their particular requirements, and how to access the previous face-to-face training sessions, which have now been reformatted into blocks of discrete remote learning modules of 60 120 minute durations. The live remote deliveries will be available to groups not exceeding 20 participants, with each course comprising 3-5 modules. #itsneverok #mentalhealthawareness #mentalhealthmatters #mentalhealthatwork

22.01.2022 Thank you to the wonderful staff from Anglicare Victoria's TEACHaR program. I was invited to deliver a mental wellbeing educational session remotely for their Carer Connect meeting on Wednesday night. Imagine my surprise to return from work this evening to find this 'Thank You' hamper awaiting my arrival at home. What a beautiful gesture - thank you all for making the session happen for the carers, and for being so creative and compassionate towards your guest speaker.

20.01.2022 Free online education session for foster and kinship carers. As we navigate through this pandemic period - let's not forget our unsung heroes who are supporting our most valuable young people at home. Registration link - https://lnkd.in/gvnRHnR #payitforward #fostercare

18.01.2022 Another Occupational Violence & Aggression video shoot at The Royal Women's Hospital. Looking forward to see the final product that will be used in our OVA training package. http://www.moat.com.au/mo/occupational-violence-aggression/

17.01.2022 Thank you to all the formal and informal kinship and foster carers. Often the unsung heroes.

10.01.2022 Sometimes Life is Tough is a highly-illustrated book written specifically for children in ‘Out of Home Care’ settings. Why do kids in care experience and express emotions slightly differently to their mainstream peers? What are the things that they missed out on during their informative years, and what can be done about it? Can we tell these kids that there is hope? ... Can everything work out OK? SLiT is Billy's story - he starts the book at home in a dysfunctional family; before being looked after by a foster family; and eventually progressing to functional adulthood - with the assistance of his friend Sarah, his carers, and a mental health worker.... who looks surprisingly like a young version of Bryan Jeffrey. 08.01.2022 For those people looking for a resource to help young people understand mental health, mental wellbeing and mental illness during this pandemic period - My Big Brain Book, previously only available in print format, is now available on Apple iBooks. It's a 50-page, highly illustrated educational resource reviewed by the highly acclaimed psychiatrist Professor Alasdair Vance from Melbourne’s Royal Children’s Hospital. The book helps young people to understand the intricacies of brain chemistry; where sadness and anxiety come from, and how to manage these feelings by adopting healthy living strategies. #mentalhealthmatters #mentalhealthatwork #mentalhealth #mentalhealthawareness #anxiety #depression #health #parenting #children #psychology

02.01.2022 Verbal abuse and intimidation can be regular occurrences in healthcare settings, and staff will utilise a range of techniques to deal with them. Creating a culture of zero tolerance is a major factor in supporting staff members to manage these situations safely. #mentalhealth #healthcare #workplacementalhealth #workplacewellbeing #workplacesafety
