25.01.2022 Bit of fun with the drone just off Airlie Beach. Amazing views from the air! Best viewed in HD (option when watching through youtube app). Youtubes auto quality setting seems to do weird things to drone footage... #airliebeach #onaboat #dronepractice #hainessignature #mercurymarine https://youtu.be/Ea0EgSakOMU

25.01.2022 So on Friday we showed you the awning, but we’ve also used windows from ATRV - Aussie Traveller Clean and tidy. Midge proof fly screen with a privacy blind that also reflects heat. #vanbuild #vanlife #homeiswhereyouparkit #diy #aussietravellers #caravanwindows #mobileworkshop #ilikehastags

23.01.2022 Over the next couple of weeks we will be posting some photos of our last trip with our home built trailer. Free camp and exploring charters towers, QLD. #charterstowers #centralqld #visitqld #qldtourism #homemade @ Charters Towers, Queensland

21.01.2022 Its been in the planning stages for a while, but our new Van build will start to take shape very shortly.. If only I could follow my plans #homemadevan #homebuilt #toyhauler #camperbuild #overland #alwayslearning #jackofalltrades https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fvcd_4TXrBw&t=99s

20.01.2022 So to add to Fridays post: We cut out the 2 windows (yep no router here! Bloody cowboys! ), check the door & test the fan that we will be installing into the workshop area. Need to organise checker plate for the front and sides of trailer. Going with a black & grey theme. The panels are exactly the same that we used on our previous build. Capping of all the corners will again be 40x40 alloy, but this time it will match the checker plate down the sides - so black it is. We ...originally were going to build just the chassis & get composite panels manufactured up (so no alloy frame), but the cost + freighting those 5.2 metre panels up here (north QLD) were the main reasons we decided to go this path again. Thats not factoring in the roof that would have rolled into the front section = around 7 metres. Assembling those massive panels together would have been our 3rd problem in doing it that way. As for A/C, we are still weighing up whether to run a small house style inverter split system with the unit on the back, or a conventional RV roof unit. We have added the bracing in the roof in case we decide to go with the latter. Reasons for house unit are: cheaper + can install more solar on roof + maybe quieter with the unit at the back, not above you. That about sums it up for now i reckon EDIT: Video uploaded separately due to facebooks crappy quality when uploading all together #diycamper #builtnotbought #maxair #maxfan #aussietravellers #homebuilt #backyardproject #lockdownlife

19.01.2022 VAN BUILD UPDATE Bit of a slow start as we were waiting on wire for the welder, other than that, we are now flipped over and have started the floor supports. We will be running the Cruisemaster XT independent suspension system on this build.... We spent a lot of time trying to figure out what suspension to run. Solid axles (leaf springs) have always been a preference because of the simplicity and load sharing characteristics, but we made up our minds on a recent trip up north with some hefty craters in the road (corrugations). Being a completely independent setup, each wheel can do what it wants / needs without being determined on what the wheel in front or behind is doing. The only downfall - No load sharing. There are quite a few independent setups around, but this is what we have settled on. A lot of our design has been influenced by remote travel, our previous builds & the capabilities of what we can & can't do. We want the ability to take our home / workshop almost anywhere. We just might need to upgrade to a tank to pull the thing #homemadecaravan #mobilehome #mobileworkshop #inprogress

14.01.2022 Van Build Chassis update: Have been double checking all measurements to make sure there are no errors in my drawings. Quickly assembled to check wheel clearance (smaller tyres fitted here). Everything is going to plan so far. Merna approves of it #homebuiltvan #slowandsteadywinstherace #workshoptrailer #vanbuild

13.01.2022 A few night lapses which we featured in our "August 2020 update" video on YouTube. It’s been a while since we’ve done one of these... The last one in this video was captured back in February on the Murray River. 09.01.2022 Another Van update - Rear wall and door are now attached! We finally have an enclosed box on wheels. This is also where the modular rear bar will probably start to make sense. It will have bolts going down into the chassis and also into the rear wall, as I have welded a brace on top of the chassis to share the load - hopefully to prevent it from cracking underneath. The hitch in the middle is for the vice as shown, but probably need to refresh this as its seen better d...ays. This whole setup allows us to unbolt and modify it as the needs change. As for the door, we found this early in the planning stages as damaged / dinted stock. We took a gamble and freighted it up. Has 1 small dint near the handle but otherwise perfect. This door is kind of what set the whole colour scheme, not because of our last build. #caravanbuild #mobileworkshop #jackofalltrades #lockdownchallenge #camec #travelaustralia #builtnotbought #RoadTripComingSoon

06.01.2022 Here it is, the update from a few days of a few days of a few days ago! A fair bit has happened since & from where we pick up here. We’ll start with the insulation. We have lined the van in Foilboard. Have used it in the past with great results, so figured we would stick with it in this build. Now this part may sound like a sales pitch, but I think it deserves a mention - I placed our order through a supplier and within an hour or so, received a phone call directly from Foilb...oard by the name of Stephen Young. He was calling to find out what I was using it for and if there was a more economical way of doing it. Turns out there was, so he adjusted the order & emailed some information about their products. I picked up the panels when they arrived and received a credit for the difference that I had originally paid. How good is that! Excellent service by a company that actually has an interest in peoples uses, not just profits. So thanks for the excellent service Foilboard Australia. Job well done We’ll leave it here for now, but will keep the updates coming (for real this time ). #vanbuild #foilboard #diycaravan #workshoponwheels

04.01.2022 The framework has started and now you can start to see the shape (and size ) of the van. Merna is definitely excited to see it all coming together! #homemadecaravan #diycamper #mobilehome #mobileworkshop #campervanlife #tinyhome

02.01.2022 Hello. Yes this is real. You can actually see a post from us We have just released an update video on youtube - https://youtu.be/jqBoKeg8_6Y More frequent updates to come!

02.01.2022 Merry Christmas from the Mobile Mack team! Hope everyone stays safe & enjoys themselves. We have been a little quiet on the socials, but still progressing on the van build. More to come in the next few days. #merrychristmas2020 #diycaravan #foilboard #vanbuild #workshoponwheels

01.01.2022 Awning is on! 4.6 metres of pure goodness from Aussie Traveller Also in an unexpected 2 tone colour scheme (brackets black, drum white). Bit of an error when manufactured, but we negotiated to keep it instead of sending it back and having them remake another. They were actually pretty good about it. We understand that sometimes these things happen. Dont think it actually looks too out of place Still need to fit a middle bracket though, to support the centre part while rolled... up. The cut outs are for the fridge and sink in the smaller door. Don’t have the TIG with me, so everything is made from angle bits with glue and rivets. It will all be black like the side of the van. As for the glue, its my new best friend! Fixtech 190 FWT. Its life changing! #diyprojects #mobilehome #startedasalockdownproject #gettingclosereveryday #2021travelplans #mobileworkshop
