25.01.2022 Hi All, Just to let you know I will be on leave and out of phone range from Wednesday 8-11 July 2020. Please feel free to email me and Ill get back to you on my return. Three Capes here I come!!

25.01.2022 A Home Exercise Plan is used to improve strength, flexibility, balance and co-ordinated movements within your dog and your abilities. So, don't worry guys, I would never suggest something like this....unless your dog enjoyed extreme sports!

24.01.2022 It has been a challenging year for us all and I hope 2021 will bring a bit more normality. It has also been a pleasure to meet all of the amazing caring humans giving their furry family members the best care for recovery after surgery and injury. Every pet is so different to help through this process. Even if they have had exactly the same procedure as another pet, the rehab can be very different depending on your individual pet. Just to let you all know I will be on leave f...rom Xmas to 11th January 2021. Please feel free to email, text or call me during this time to organise an appointment after the 11th January. Have a great Xmas break and see you all soon. Evelyn

24.01.2022 I am looking after Little Watson the bravest little man I know. Two years ago Lorena and I worked together to get him back to health after his first disc prolapse. Dr Chris Allfree performed a hemilaminectomy then and again now. This time it was much worse, but with Lorenas dedication to follow his exercise protocols and the use of therapeutic laser and pulsed electromagnetic field (there is good research to support these modalities in human and veterinary medicine), we are progressing. Slowly but surely. Thank you Lorena for allowing me to share Watsons challenging journey.

21.01.2022 I volunteer at Pets in the Park every month, and just wanted to share some of the lovely pets that we saw this last weekend. If you would like to donate to this worthy cause, head to their webpage to help people in need take care of their pets.

21.01.2022 CAGE REST ARE DIRTY WORDS WHEN NOT USED APPROPRIATELY. We have all had to cage rest or confine our pets after injury or surgery at some point or another. This is often essential to ensure healing is not compromised. But what else happens with cage rest? Lets start at the beginning. Why has my vet asked me to cage rest my pet?...Continue reading

20.01.2022 Hi all, I wanted to share Maxs journey from when I first had the pleasure of meeting him 3 weeks after disc hernia surgery to when he had gained enough function for his lovely human, Mim, to repeat, repeat, repeat! He came for rehab and reassessment twice a week for the first month and weekly for the next couple of months. Slowly but surely we tweaked his exercises to help trigger his nerve pathways to form new channels so he could learn to walk again. He could not have achieved this progress without Mims hard work at home following his home exercise plan! Max still has a way to go, but this part will take a while and a lot if repetition...best done to music! I hope you enjoy watching a little of his journey.

15.01.2022 I know it's fun, but...

14.01.2022 A great day was had by all last Sunday at Dogs on the Domain. I met some great people with their lovely dogs in the sun! Had my scales to check everyones weight, and was glad to see lots of the pups were very trim, taut and terrific!

12.01.2022 OK, its winter and this is when the cold leads us to not be as active, which is a bad thing for osteoarthritic pets (and owner, including me!!). So here is what we do to combat this. I think we all know this. :) Osteoarthritis. Osteoarthritis is defined as a degenerative process that causes inflammation, breakdown and eventual loss of cartilage in the joints. ...Continue reading

11.01.2022 If anyone has an older pup with osteoarthritis, or any condition that needs help with mobility or stability, then here is a lovely video of someone using it to help her dog and demonstrating its use beautifully.

09.01.2022 There are a lot of resources out there to help you and your dog with degenerative myelopathy. Here is one that looks very comprehensive.

09.01.2022 Sizzles came to visit for reassessment following his second slipped disc a few weeks back. He is walking well, balancing on turns now and the feeling in his left paw is returning. Lots of dedicated work by his humans!! Here he is relaxing with his favourite squeaky crocodile having LASER to treat muscle trigger points, and later in the week, off with his human for some fun swimming rehab at the beach! Hope the weather and water warms up soon!!

08.01.2022 Just to let everyone know, I am still able to help your pets recover from surgery or injury and institute all recommended safeguards. To be able to do this, we can cover your pets history and needs prior to examination via phone or Zoom. For the examination, to maintain social distancing and follow government guidelines, we can establish the best way to achieved this prior to the visit. This will really depend on your pet! :)

05.01.2022 Finally I have my rooms completed (well almost) for follow up care following my initial home visit assessment and plan!! The space is used for repeat LASER (photobiomodulation), reassessments, and therapy as required. If you would rather come to me for initial assessment that is fine too. Please call, text or email for appointments.

04.01.2022 What motivates your dog? For Sizzles it is a squeaky toy!! Sizzles is recovering at an amazing pace after disc surgery with Dr Chris Allfree of Bright Futures.

03.01.2022 I thought I would share a recent blog from my website, to help you take early action when things dont go according to plan after a surgery. Your Vet and Rehab Vet dont want you to wait and see...

03.01.2022 Today I had the pleasure of catching up with lovely George. He had a surgery with Dr Chris Allfree to treat a fragmented coronoid process one month ago. This is a condition of growing dogs. It was diagnosed early by the Lindisfarne Veterinary Clinic, which is the best time to know! The condition is called elbow dysplasia and is a term used to describe a variety of different troubles that growing dogs can suffer from. If you have a young growing dog with with waxing and waning front leg lameness. It may be one leg or the other, but you are never sure. Then go to your vet. Prevention is always better than cure. BTW, George is progressing beautifully like a champ!!

02.01.2022 A visit to Evelyn Woods my rehab vet by Leelou.

01.01.2022 Happy Friday everyone! We spent the whole afternoon in the NEW magnesium pool today. Getting ourselves used to the dock, the ramps and the platforms. Working on... our dives, our swimming technique and our exits! Murphy the Aussie Shepherd was first to dive off the dock, followed closely by Rocco the Lagotto and Franky the Vizsla! The pups are getting the hang of it and having a lot of fun in the process! Have a great weekend everyone! See more

01.01.2022 Maggies humans are so happy that Maggie has been given the all clear for off leash activities!!! Maggie had a tibial plateau leveling osteotomy performed on her right knee to treat a ruptured cranial cruciate ligament. Our main problem was keeping Maggie settled enough to allow healing without breakdown, but allow enough controlled activity to help prevent her muscle loss and maintain flexibility. I very, very difficult task for her very dedicated humans, Tasha and Miguel. But we have come out the other end with a strong, fully healed knee with excellent range of motion and ready to get back to what Maggie loves best.....being an exuberant, fun loving canine who just wants to run!!!
