25.01.2022 Beach kindy was a wonderful experience for children and educators this term. Webb Beach provided the perfect environment for children to safely explore, wonder and enjoy the seaside. "Teaching children about the natural world should be seen as one of the most important events in their lives. Thomas Berry Lots of children have been very curious about the different shells they could find at the beach. Tyler was describing his collection of shells: "It's brown, and that one... is black and pink with some grey on. That's all white... just out there next to the big river" [is where he found the shells]. Aunty Cherylynne and a small group of children used clay from the shore to make sculptures. Ariana was collecting shells. Ariana noticed how some shells were long and pointy - she said "It's a unicorn horn" Andrew and Vedansh were observing the depth of the water changing as they waded in the water. Andrew wanted to get wet so he sat in the water! He said "I'm sitting in the water, Vedansh is too!" "Woah, feels slimy!" said Norah, exploring the texture of the clay. "Look, I made a seahorse!" Xyla was very proud of her creation. See more

22.01.2022 Dress our little friends for cold and wet weather today! If your child has gloves send them along. Remember, we have rain suits and water boots for those who need them. We are hoping it rains today. The land needs a big drink. We look forward to speaking to our children about the importance of rain. Rain is a joyful weather event - particularly in our part of the world.

21.01.2022 Linda will start a new job next term, but will transition out of MOC gradually, ensuring the transition to school process is thorough. For new children starting next year, Linda will continue to support those families who have additional needs to ensure this process is also smooth, with a lot of help from the MOCCC team! We will keep you informed of the new Head of Childrens Centre as the appointment process gets underway.

18.01.2022 Welcome to all our 2021 children, their families and the community! We were so excited to meet new and reconnect with known children and families of our MOC Children’s Centre community this afternoon. For those of you who weren’t able to make it this is a quick video tour of our environment (or as it is often called our third teacher) and some of our educators. Some faces that are missing from this video are Sam and Hayley (who were both busily working in other parts of t...he centre), Jaimie (who is mentioned by Mary) and Lucia (who many of you already know and love) are both at home taking care of their health and wellbeing. We look forward to greeting and formally beginning our kindy programs for session 2 Thursday and Friday next week and for session 1 Monday and Tuesday of week 2.

18.01.2022 Our final Bush Kindy visit for 2020 gave us plenty of reminders of why we provide this valuable experience for our children. We noticed such growth in resilience, persistence, imagination, curiosity, confidence and collaboration. We also reflected on the growth in communication skills, with many reluctant talkers finding their voice, and the vocabulary of all children expanded. It has been joyous to hear rich dialogue freely flowing between children as well as between childr...en and educators. Childrens abilities to use STEM thinking when researching, hypothesizing, testing and concluding was highly evident, as they participated in bush walks, observed flora & fauna change and as they built cubbies and climbed trees. The opportunity to observe tadpoles gradually grow into frogs in their natural world has been magical. We have been researching this further back at Kindy. The tadpoles are just starting to grow legs now! More than anything, I was struck by the connection to land these children show. Children have been observed pushing their hands into the Earth to feel if the soil has enough water, and then dancing and singing their own songs to bring about rain. Grace - your efforts on Friday must have worked - lots of lovely rain last night. Children are aware of and respect the original custodians of this land, the Peramangk people, and are showing a sense of responsibility and love for Para Wirra. We are so proud of our childrens learning. We cant wait to see what they achieve in the beach environment.
