25.01.2022 When one of our Year 4 students at Mark Oliphant College heard that some special people were being looked after by her mum, at her work, she wanted to do someth...ing very special. We came up with the idea to add some artwork to the Crows Boys' Meal Bags to brighten up their days! Today we received a special card thanking us for the beautiful work that the class produced. Here are some photos of them being delivered and the card we received. #weareallinthistogether See more

16.01.2022 Dear Parents/Caregivers, We are currently working on ways of supporting students learning in the current difficult circumstances. Understandably, absence rates are high and likely to continue at these or higher levels. Teachers continue to make materials available via Daymap and Google Classroom which can be accessed from home. However, while they are still working with classes at school they are not in a position to also provide one-to-one support for students at home. Year... 12 teachers are working on arrangements to move to an approach which supports both students on site and at home this will be extended to year 11s later this week. In the event of school closure these approaches will provide ongoing support for students. We are developing approaches for other year levels across the College reflecting the needs and characteristics of these students. More information will be provided as the situation develops. Regards, Kym Grant Principal

13.01.2022 Please find attached in the published link below a locally developed document in support of remote learning specific to MOC - Learning from Home: Information and Advice for Parents/Caregivers booklet. It is extremely important that our families to get and digest this information prior to term 2 commencing to help understand how this is all going to work. https://moc.sa.edu.au//MOC-Learning-from-Home-Booklet-Web.

12.01.2022 Dear families, Strong family and school relationships are important to ensure that students are successful at school. It is our priority to endeavour to support you in the best way possible. To be able to do this we require all future appointments to be made via the office staff. PH: 8209 1600 This will enable staff to dedicate the time and effort to effectively work together to reach a positive outcome.

11.01.2022 IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR PARENTS / CARERS Dear parents/carers, As advised by the Minister for Education and following public health advice, all preschools and schools will remain open for the foreseeable future:... In Week 10, it is assumed that all children will be attending preschool /school where parents prefer/are unable to supervise learning at Home. In Week 11 staff will use Pupil Free Days to set up Learning at Home and Learning on Site programs ready for next term. Subsequently at the start of term 2, children will be either Learning at Home or Learning on Site depending on circumstances. Today you will receive an SMS asking you whether your children will be learning from home or learning at school beginning next term. Could I ask that as many parents as possible respond to this? This information will allow us to plan how we as a College are going to ensure that continuity of learning is occurring for very every student regardless of where you have chosen for them to learn. Thank you, Kym Grant Principal

09.01.2022 Important COVID-19 Update

09.01.2022 It's magpie season! Just a caution to be wary of our feathered friends during this time of the year, especially the fellow who lives at the front of 99 Douglas Drive and seems to take a particular dislike to some people and couldn't care less about others.

08.01.2022 A big thank you to all of our school community who participated in our recent communications survey. This survey has now closed and responses are being considered to help formulate our future communication direction. The survey provides a valuable insight into how you, as a parent or caregiver, source information relating to the school and/or school activities and events.... - Thank you

05.01.2022 SCHOOL RESPONSE TO COVID19 Mark Oliphant College is committed to ensuring the safety and wellbeing of its staff and students as its highest priority. While media and public commentary in relation to Coronavirus (COVID-19) continues to raise concern, public health authorities have recommended precautionary measures for schools to ensure the safest learning environment for our children. At MOC we are committed to doing all that we can to reduce the risk of Coronavirus (COVID-19...Continue reading

04.01.2022 Congratulations to the year 11 music students who performed simultaneously with over 700,000 other students from schools around the country in yesterday’s Music Count Us In (MCUI) Celebration of Music. Students performed three versions of the 2020 song You Won’t Bring Us Down: The Program Song, Auslan translation and Indigenous Language (Wajarri). Here’s a short clip from the performance.

04.01.2022 Intruder in Building 9! Students in Building 9 were surprised to see that we had a visitor last night. Year 3 students practiced the skill of inferring- using clues + what we already know to make meaning- to discuss what they think happened.

04.01.2022 INFORMATION FOR PARENTS / CARERS MARCH 24 TERM 1 REPORTS... Due to the significant student absenteeism over the past two weeks, Term 1 reports will not be completed. This decision is based on the fact that teachers are unable to make informed decisions in relation to student grades as there is not enough assessable evidence to make a judgement. A REMINDER If your child is feeling ill or exhibiting Flu like symptoms please keep them at home. It is a requirement that students are sent home from school if teachers and/ or support staff suspect. We have had a small number of disappointing incidences where parents have been very argumentative with our staff who are simply doing what is required of them. ONLINE LEARNING ENVIRONMENTS You have no doubt heard in the media that schools are preparing for delivery of online materials for our students. As a College we are in deep discussions as to what this looks like for the different age groups of students. We will be receiving additional information regarding this towards the end of the week. We will keep you up to date as further information comes to hand. Currently many students who are off site particularly those in the secondary Sub School and in some Primary classes are already accessing DayMap or Google Classrooms as this has been part of normal practice. Our teachers use numerous platforms and it will be simply a matter of adapting these for learning purposes. As you can appreciate this will take some time as teachers are still teaching their classes. I ask for your patience with this.

04.01.2022 Student, Class and Family Photos You can collect your childs Photograph Pack between Monday 6 and Wednesday 8 April, 10am 2pm. Early and Primary and Family Packs can be collected from the Reception Desk and Middle and Senior Packs can be collected from Student Services.... Please can only 1 member of the family present at either Reception or Student Services when collecting your Photo Pack. If you have elected to Pay Later your photograph WILL NOT be available until payment is made which is scheduled to be paid in Term 3.

02.01.2022 A REMINDER TO PARENTS / CAREGIVERS REGARDING STUDENT EXEMPTIONS For those parents who have not already done so, could you please contact the school to inform us if you are choosing to keep your child at home as a result of COVID19 and how long you intend to keep them home for. This will enable the school to better plan our learning programs to ensure all students are able to access these.

01.01.2022 ***CANCELLED*** Dear Families Unfortunately due to the recent COVID-19 cluster in the Northern suburbs we are unable to allow any families to attend the Art Showcase this week.... Students will still visit the showcase as scheduled with their class teachers during lesson time. At this stage, we care looking at alterative options to showcase the art work via social media. We thank you for your ongoing support in ensuring our community is safe. Sheree Whitmore Arts and Technology Coordinator
