02.01.2022 WOW, what a day to recommence racing with NSKC @ Eastern Creek, albeit with a shortened format. Our fantastic Velocity crew, Greg, Adam, Matt, James, Lachlan & Steve managed to set up in the dry early in the morning but then came the anticipated and continuous rain. Our whole pit area nearly floated away during the day! Despite the rain, every Velocity driver had fun on track, not so much the long suffering and very, very wet pit crew!!! ... After listening to some essential wet weather driving tips from Velocity’s James M the three Velocity junior drivers drove really well. Declan KA3 was beaming from ear to ear thoroughly enjoying the conditions and managed a very good 2nd and 3rd in the heats and a podium finish in heat 3/final, good lap times recorded too, fantastic effort. With no wet driving experience Julian KA4 did well to finish in the first and third heats, although getting caught up in an unavoidable track incident in second heat. Mateo KA4 acquitted himself very well in his first ever race meeting, finishing each heat and even managing a couple of overtakes and a 5th position heat finish too, he loved being on track in race mode despite the conditions. We look forward to seeing what Mateo can achieve on track in a dry race meeting. The Velocity TAG Restricted drivers did well with James K quietly getting the job done snagging a very credible 3rd place overall finish in his first meeting back in his kart for over one year - well done - especially in the wet. Christian put into practice some new found skills and had a killer first heat finishing 4th with a smile. A broken accelerator cable on the roll up lap excluding him from the second heat but he had his best finish in Heat 3/Final with a 4th position. Chris P finished all 3 challenging heats with a 6th, 7th & 7th positions. Dan managed a 4th in the heat 3/Final & Alex had a day of mixed results while James C had a crack at racing but seriously had other things on his mind - hope the new baby arrives safe and sound today!!! Cullen started with a great first heat, even leading the field for a some laps, then mixed results for the day but all done with his signature good nature and infectious sense of humour!! The Velocity Masters drivers had a pretty mixed day with a few DNF’s courtesy of the weather but Dean and Simon were happy to be back at the track and racing. John P earnt his first podium (P2) finish which was well deserved especially for the amount of time and effort John puts into his kart setup!!!! Thanks must go to the NSKC Committee and all the volunteers for enduring very challenging conditions. See you at the next NSKC round on SATURDAY, 22 August 2020, Day / Night meeting.
