02.01.2022 Renovating V's New Build. I get asked all the time.... Why do bathrooms and kitchens cost so much to renovate when it doesn't cost as much to build in a new home. Here is a quick indication of some costs of renovating V's new build costs.... Renovating an existing bathroom can cost you on average $10,000 to $25,000. Renovating an existing laundry can cost between $4000 to $10,000. Renovating an existing kitchen can cost between $15,000 and $50,000. This is more expensive than the average cost of these rooms in a new home. The higher costs are associated with dealing with existing conditions. Extra work is required fixing or replacing stud walls, plastering, paintwork, wiring and relocating plumbing. Start with a total budget in mind. Do your research and always allow a contingency for price increases and latent conditions. Monitor your costs from start to finish to avoid cost blowouts.
