17.01.2022 Dr Jasmin Martino, researcher at UniSA Future Industries Institute, is developing new techniques to reveal details about the lives of octopus. While other scientists have primarily taken on the genetic, evolutionary and age studies of the octopus, Jasmin herself is focusing on the chemical analysis of statoliths, statoliths are the octopus equivalent of black boxes. Find out what these tiny, poppy-seed-sized structures can reveal.... https://bit.ly/3cX2w6M

17.01.2022 ALL SYSTEMS GO. Visit IT'S COMPLICATED from Tuesday - Saturday 10am - 4pm. Problems in complex systems are trickier to solve. Even well-thought out solutions can have unexpected and unintended consequences. Like trying to wipe out malaria but ending up with parachuting cats.... Join us to raise a Tamagotchi-inspired octopus, build robots and hack the immune system. IT’S COMPLICATED pulls back the curtain on the seemingly simple and reveals just how complicated, and complex, the world can be.

11.01.2022 There's a rainbow in our window... Love to our friends at Feast Festival who've had a turbulent time of it in the last week, amidst all the chaos! There's still plenty of cool things happening right up until the 29th Nov, so check out their program and get on board here: https://www.feast.org.au... Photo: @natrydd (via IG)

10.01.2022 A lot's changed since we launched SEVEN SIBLINGS FROM THE FUTURE, just a year ago! Who could have envisioned Julia’s bushfire refuge and Alex’s telemedical training appearing in our lives in 2020? As we grappled with pandemics and politics, our siblings negotiated the complexities of climate change, launched space careers, digested food security concerns and adjusted to automation. There may not be ONE perfect vision of the future, but our latest blog digs deep on what we'...ve learned, and what’s driving our siblings (and all of us) forward. https://bit.ly/FutureLearningsWithMOD

08.01.2022 Katie Gloede has been working to develop a program called STEMfooty as part of their PhD Doctorate in Education with UniSA Education Futures. STEMfooty incorporates the power of hands-on education to help kids learn about maths. Some kids learn better when they work in real physical spaces.... So if we take them out onto a football field and ask them to kick goals from these angles, often this can create a visual memory that is really useful for them. https://bit.ly/2SZhGBf

08.01.2022 Happy New Year. Looking forward to welcoming you back for IT'S COMPLICATED. Keep an eye out for more details in the lead up to 2 Feb 2021.

06.01.2022 Surviving takes effort. Responding to changing and imposed conditions is adaptation. And some of us have it down better than others, take for example octopus. Join UniSA's Zoe Doubleday, marine ecologist and octopus wrangler, in exploring the capacity of complex systems to adapt to their environment and thrive.

05.01.2022 In 2050, nurse Alex works with the elderly - but not in a nursing home or hospital. With more people living at home until later in life, it’s easier to just dial in and check on them remotely, especially with a monitoring device on 24/7. In the coming decades we’ll become central to our own healthcare, with a network of medicos just a tap of a button or one swift hand motion away. As we increasingly adorn our bodies with wearable technology, our health system is evolving. How do you feel about it all? http://bit.ly/StayHealthyWithAlex

05.01.2022 Not sure what planet you're on, but @marieandcoffee (IG) found a little time and space of their own in our Universal Gallery last week, and as the globe keeps spinning there's no telling what'll come next... You'll all just have to wait and find out! https://bit.ly/DropIntoMOD

03.01.2022 Our galleries are temporarily closed to protect the health and safety of our visitors in line with recommendations for managing the spread of COVID-19 in SA. Our SEVEN SIBLINGS FROM THE FUTURE are taking a little holiday, but we're currently working behind the scenes to bring them back online - so you’ll still have plenty of opportunity to find your ‘soul sibling’ over the summer holidays. What’s next? Well... It’s Complicated. But rest assured, we’ll be re-opening with an ...exciting NEW exhibition in early Feb, 2021. For further news and updates please continue to tune into our social media channels and visit our website: https://bit.ly/Visit-MOD-Website We look forward to welcoming you back in the (near) future!

01.01.2022 We get it. 2020 might have been the longest year in history for many of us, but you still didn’t manage to visit SEVEN SIBLINGS FROM THE FUTURE because hey... COVID, right? We hear you. That’s why we’ve launched a new, fully interactive ONLINE version of the exhibition, so you still have plenty of time to find your ‘soul sibling’ over the summer break! And really, what’s a future without friends? Get started right here:... https://bit.ly/VisitSevenSiblingsOnline See more
