11.01.2022 Saxon Wilson Update!! Hello to all the wonderful supporters of our inaugural Moechella Festival (a 'Saxon Wilson Fundraiser'). So much has transpired since our fundraiser back in November with the bushfire disaster and COVID-19 pandemic, impacting all of us in some way.... That aside, we really wanted to provide you all with an update on Saxon's progress since the event. Saxon was scheduled to attend NAPA Centre last month for his first 3 week intensive therapy session however due to COVID-19, Saxons treatment was postponed. At this stage NAPA have advised the family they're going to confirm rescheduled dates sometime after August, hopefully for later this year or early next. Despite the postponement, funds committed by the Steve Waugh Foundation (as announced at Moechella) to cover Saxons first round of treatment will roll over once new dates are confirmed by NAPA Centre. Over the past few months, Saxons regular therapy and medical appointments have largely been via Zoom. The lack of hands on treatment has done little to halt Saxons development however as Saxons mum Emma describes, "it's three steps forward and one step back at times". Saxon has steadily built his signing ability from around 11 words back in November to a few dozen words now and he has also started signing two words together. He can say a handful of simple words like mum, dad, nan, woof woof and he is babbling ALL the time. Saxon has walked very short distances unaided a couple of times, something that seemed almost impossible only 7 months ago, this is something the family are really hopeful will be accelerated by his visit to NAPA Centre. Saxons other obvious development is his interpretation of a range of shapes, colours and animals by picture, object and name. Some of the challenges Saxon still faces are the simple things, like eating which is still a big obstacle. Saxon often chokes on his food and cannot be left unsupervised at all during meal time. We really hope this update gives our 'Moechella Family' an insight into Saxons development since Moechella and we'll be in touch once new dates have been locked in with NAPA Centre. We did that But most importantly the aim was to raise funds for a great local family in need of some support, in particular a little boy named Saxon Wilson. Within the next 24 hours we hope to release a total sum of what has been raised. Stay tuned I think we’ll get a pleasant surprise. 01.01.2022 We are extremely proud to announce that the very first sold out Moechella event along with associated fundraising activities has raised a grand total of >>> $40,276.46 <<< which will be completely donated to the Wilson family to fund medical treatment for their son Saxon. Saxon will head to Sydney one of three places in the world which treat his condition ‘Cri du chat’. On behalf of the Wilson family and all of us here at Moechella we’d again like to thank the Moe and surrou...nding community for embracing this event and the incredible support which it has received.
