22.01.2022 Hello everyone, welcome to Moments of Mindfulness! This week I have decided to share two art-based programs that require minimal materials. Each program varies between 30 to 45 minutes long and should be completed in a quiet area, free of distractions. Using each of the YouTube links, children can follow my simple instructions and participate in various art activities. Mindfulness-based Art programs integrate mindful practice with making art therapeutically. Art is a way of ...expressing ourselves beyond words, it encourages us to be in our present moment experiences through noticing the senses required in touch, play and movement. The benefits of mindfulness-based art include reduces stress and anxiety, improved mood and self-esteem, deeper insight and ways to develop compassion for ourselves and others. I kindly ask, that if you find yourself using this program with your children, I would greatly appreciate your feedback through the page. Enjoy this moment of mindfulness... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AeMjrvBT18Y&t=1s https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g-tzXBAKYTg&t=610s

21.01.2022 Goodmorning everyone! In the next few weeks, I will be focusing in on yoga as a form of mindfulness. Yoga teaches acceptance and tolerance of others. In practicing yoga, children learn early in life that all living beings are to be cherished and respected as they are. In guiding their bodies through the poses, children learn more about their bodies and what they are capable of. When children learn to accept and love themselves for who they are, to see the good in others, to focus and calm their minds, and to be aware of their innate capabilities, they learn tools for resilience. https://youtu.be/Bw4VjdGq2vs

07.01.2022 Hello, welcome to another week of Moments of Mindfulness! This week, I have chosen to focus on mandala work. Creating a mandala can provide a pathway to meditation and centering, allowing children to have a focal point to direct his or her energy and thought. The act of drawing, painting or otherwise creating a mandala can also teach essential self-soothing skills. Mandalas can be used in conjunction with other exercises to facilitate emotional expression, and can give a child the visual representation of a confined arena in which to place their anxieties, frustrations, fear or anger. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jF5dDs23iQ4&feature=youtu.be
