By working on all dimensions of our being - physical, mental, emotional and spiritual - yoga reduces our tendencies for fear and reactivity, and increases our natural capacities for joy, love and gratitude. One breath at a time. Tree Pose teaches us to stand strong, to focus and to find our way into balance, only to fall and have another go. 10.01.2022 COACHING TIP: Trust in your heart to lead the way. One thing I so appreciate about my life these days is knowing how to live from the power and truth of my heart. We live in a world that rates 'success' and that places a high value on rational thought and problem-solving, yet thinking is often the by-product of fear. And fear, by its very nature, is conditioned, cautious and limited. Its our hearts that hold the more expansive and innate human qualities of courage, inspirati...on, connection, trust, joy and love. Our heart is powerful. Its our hearts that enable us to truly live, and to fulfil our dreams, big and small. When we are connected to our heart, we are connected deeply to ourself. The heart has a beautiful, intuitive sense of what’s going on and what resonates for us. Being able to trust in our heart involves three things. We have to know how it feels when we are connected to our heart. We have to know when we are disconnected. And we have to be willing and able to reconnect whenever we need to. In my personal journey, although it morphs a little as I grow and the years go by, my vitality and courage comes from having a strong inner connection. This allows me to know who I am, what I stand for and what is important to me. Being connected with my heart allows me to be tender and compassionate, it lets me know my values, my strengths and what ignites my spirit - and this gets expressed through what I do everyday. Sure, like everyone I have my moments of doubt, but I'm able to carefully discern what, and who, is right for me, based on how it feels in my body and how the energy of my heart responds to an idea or a situation. And once I get the 'go-ahead' from my heart, I can then use my intellect to flesh-out the finer details and plans. Confusing the roles of the head and the heart is what often creates confusion, stuckness and depression. And this is preventable when we have a deeper connection to ourselves through our heart. How about you? Get to know and honour the truth of your heart, and it will not let you down. 10.01.2022 Steadiness, ease and joy. How do you find this in your life? For me and so many of those who practise yoga, we cultivate this through working with the body, the breath and self-awareness. We’re not looking for perfection. Or to be ‘the best’ or to become flexible (although that happens) or to escape ourselves. Instead, by working with and accepting ourselves as we are, we discover a gentle aliveness within us that knows peace. That feels at ease. And that IS joy.... The ego can do its best to create happiness in our external life but it never lasts. But when we find this ‘well’ within ourselves, and return to it time and time again to drink in its nourishment, that becomes the ultimate path to our happiness ~ Natalie

09.01.2022 Don’t believe a thing your mind tells you about your yoga or meditation practice. This was one of the wisest things I was ever taught as a student. Our mind will tell us all sorts of things: I’m too tired/busy/unfit/stiff... Its okay if I don’t practice today/this week. I can’t do this. I don’t have time.... I need to sleep/rest/have a glass of wine... I’m not good enough. Blah blah blah There’s something weird about our internal resistance to practice! But our musings about practice are all just ‘empty’ thoughts that don’t hold any power, unless we give in to them. All we need to do is to get ourselves to the mat or cushion, and our practice will take care of the rest. The practice ALWAYS works. We always feel better about ourselves for it. This morning at 6am we had a room full of keen yogis, meditating, breathing and moving together. So amazing to start our day like this!
