23.01.2022 Carrot stretches with Cece! Carrot stretches, when used correctly, can be a very useful tool in creating more flexibility in our horses, particularly through the neck and shoulders.

22.01.2022 Looks like we won’t be going anywhere anytime soon. Luckily Monte has a good rug and a high paddock!

22.01.2022 Does your horse need bodywork? I will be travelling to Tarago on Thursday the 30th of July and still have a few appointments available. A bodywork session includes physical assessment, full body massage and skeletal alignment. Throughout the process, I will work with the horse’s body to find and alleviate any tension or pain present. Everything I do is aimed at working WITH the horse’s body, encouraging the body to fix itself. If you would like to book a session for your horse/s, please do not hesitate to contact me via messenger or on 0421429993. I can’t wait to meet you and your horse!

21.01.2022 Is Wilma smiling because she enjoyed last weeks’ bodywork session so much? Or because it’s her favourite trick? Maybe a bit of both

19.01.2022 Cuddles with Fred and Wilma after their bodywork sessions today. It’s a joy and an honour to work on such wonderful ponies

19.01.2022 Meet Champagne! She is a beautiful young quarter horse mare who had her first bodywork session last weekend. She was feeling a bit sore everywhere after a 5-day clinic - the same way we feel after an intense weekend at the gym. Turned out, all she needed was a relaxing massage (don't we all!) and within an hour, her body felt much more at ease! Well done Champagne!

17.01.2022 Very important we read this very timely message bringing light to a very perilous threat to these naturally living horses now!

17.01.2022 Thank you to everyone that has allowed me to consolidate my Equine Bodywork training! Over the past few months I have been working as hard as possible to increase my skills - and getting some great results - so that I can help your horses as much as possible to feel their best. My learning will never stop - as is the way with horses and life! My normal rate starting on the 1st of September will be $90 per horse so make sure you book now to take advantage of the reduced rates!

14.01.2022 I was lucky enough to spend yesterday with the lovely Bec Laurie from Team Laurie Equine working on her beautiful horses. Regular bodywork will benefit any horse, but it is especially important for performance horses as so much more is being asked of them; whether it be collection, leaping over high fences, or stopping, starting and turning quickly to follow a cow. If you're interested in having your horse assessed or worked on, call me on 0421 429 993.

14.01.2022 What’s better than a bareback ride through the hills on a beautiful day?

12.01.2022 Cuddles with Fred after another bodywork session. He was slightly tighter in all the usual places today. Probably because he cantered the other day for the first time in months! Words can’t describe how in awe I am of this pony’s resilience. To think that a few months ago he could barely move without pain and that now he is happily cantering around with his mates. I will still be working on him weekly to keep him from regressing until his muscles can get used to this new freedom of movement, but he is like a different pony compared to what he was! Here’s to Fred!

12.01.2022 Receiving this message made my day. After all, the horses are the reason I do what I do. Mickey is 26 years young and lost his paddock mate a few months ago so his mum wanted to do something nice for him and book him in for a bodywork session. He was an absolute champion and seemed to enjoy every bit of it!

10.01.2022 ~ ~ Some of you may remember Fred: the pony with sliding stifles whose diagnosis when I first met him back in early May was "very sore from nose to tail". It has been an incredible journey working on this horse twice a week for the past 8 weeks. At times, it seemed to be a constant two steps forward and one step back. A couple of sessions ago, I noticed a shift in the chronic tension in his hindquarters. The followi...ng session, his hind end felt better than it ever had. Not only that, his entire shape had also changed. Here, we see Fred in mid-May (first photo) as compared to now (second). This first photo was taken after he'd already received a couple of treatments. It has been an incredible experience feeling and watching this horse's body changing beneath my hands. I look forward to hopefully watch him race around the paddock with his mates one day soon. Well done Fred! See more

10.01.2022 Meet Paris! Paris had her first bodywork session last weekend. She was very sore throughout most of her body but was feeling much better by the end of the session. Her near-side shoulder was the worst, so I left her with some rock tape for support. Some horses don’t know what to make of it, but she handled it like a champion. Well done Paris!

09.01.2022 There's nothing better than just hanging out with your horse

07.01.2022 For the horse with Stringhalt Meet Tyson! Tyson is 24 years young and is enjoying a lovely and well-deserved retirement. Unfortunately, Tyson suffers periodically from stringhalt, a neurological disease thought to be caused by a flatweed or fake dandelion that affects the hind legs. The flow-on affect of this varies horse to horse but in a lot of cases, as with Tyson, it can cause shoulder problems as the horse's front end has had to compensate for the issues going on behin...d. Tyson has had 3 bodywork sessions now and has made huge improvements every single time. Well done Tyson! *The third photo shows that Tyson's hindquarters have been taped. Rocktape promotes circulation and therefore healing, but it also draws the body's awareness to the taped area: in this case, the hindquarters. An important preventative measure for Stringhalt is to stop the horse from losing awareness of their hind legs.

05.01.2022 , ! Last week, I got some very exciting news from Fred's mum about his progress. For the past 3 months, Fred hasn't joined in the antics of playing with the other ponies - he hasn't been able to move out of a walk. Last week, however, Fred broke into a trot and even managed to kick up his heels for a couple of spritely pigroots! I am so proud of this little horse - he has come so far and taught me so much. I can't wait to see how he continues to improve in the future. In the meantime - well done Fred! Keep kicking on!

03.01.2022 The joys of owning a grey! I love you Monte but it would be nice if you didn’t attempt camouflage so much! #greyhorseproblems

03.01.2022 ? We’ve been grooming horses for centuries, largely to remove excess dirt from underneath the saddle or to assist with the shedding of their winter coats. Nowadays, with more horses being rugged and/or clipped, the need to remove dirt or excess hair has lessened. The importance of grooming, however, has not. If anything, it has become more important. Here’s why: 1. Promotes a healthy, shiny coat More and more people are feeding special supplemen...ts to promote coat shine. This can be achieved by simply currying your horse all over it stimulates the natural oils within the horse’s coat and creates a natural shine. 2. Relieves sore muscles and superficial aches and pains Currying in particular acts like a massage, stimulating the muscles and releasing superficial knots. This becomes particularly important as we ask more and more of our horses! 3. Building your relationship with your horse Photo: My 12-year-old little brother giving Monte a good groom

02.01.2022 ? Your saddle fits, your coach says your riding has never been better, your horse eats better than your children do and you always get your farrier on time. Everything indicates you are ready to take your horse to the next level. And yet, every time you attempt a slightly more advanced dressage manoeuvre or a more technical jumping question, your horse freezes up and he is unable to work as he should. What are you missing? If your horse throws a shoe, you ...call the farrier. You contact the vet if they even look cross-eyed!!! Why shouldn’t their body merit the same care and attention? Horses require regular tune-ups, the same as your car. Would you skip a service or an oil-change or hesitate to contact your mechanic if it wasn’t running right? Equine bodywork focuses on the musculoskeletal system and should result in a horse who feels and performs at their best. All elite athletes keep their bodies maintained and your horse is, first and foremost, an athlete. Contact me now so we can discuss how I can help your horse and book an appointment. See more
