20.01.2022 World environmental day 2020 Planned activity Before going with activity children did some art work related to world environmental day, with our request children enjoyed their work, and we took and displayed on the floor for children to think and share their understanding.... Children shared their understanding, Samar - I drew earth, trees, ocean trees Kiaan - I drew sun, house, earth, light Seetha -why do we need trees? What does the tree give us? Samar - tree give us oxygen Apurva - tree give us fruits Luca - tree give us tomato Alesha - give orange Samar - monkeys and birds don’t have home, Seetha - Even no tree we don’t get rain and will be water scarcity Samar - we don’t have water to drink Next picture I asked them to talk about ocean Samar - don’t put the rubbish in the water , all the fish will die Kiaan I went to beach then we all put plastic bottles in my daddy car, we didn’t put in the beach Next Kiaan drawing I explained solar panel, and explained about saving electricity when we are not in use. Saving water We took all the children yesterday water and collected in a bowl, Iara said it’s dirty water, yes Iara we are not going to drink but we are going to use this water for plants and leave some water for birds to drink, so that we are saving water and not wasting them. Critical reflection Children mostly shared their understanding about saving our environment, children who didn’t come out with answers but participated in group discussions and was listening visually. From now onwards we are keeping a bowl next to the sink so that we are gathering all the left water from the water bottle and reuse them for plants and birds, so this helps children to prosocial activities.

Planned Activity Theme- I gave children big white sheet and asked children to drew park concept, and explained them we are walking to the park, not going by car concept is walking is good excercise, and I planned to make a tune from the drawing we are going for a bear hunt......, ... What next- Samar- I am drawing big slide, see saw, and swing which I can see in the park Vedanshi- I will draw a sand pit, So I started creating a tune we are going to park, we are going to the big slide, I am not scared, jump into the sand....... Then our new friend Kiaan, he took turn he drew, water park and started making a path connecting from water park we are turning left to slide and we go right we can reach sand pit , here is my house, and this is traffic light vedanshi quickly said we need to hold big people hand to cross the road, Samar quickly joined and said I want to draw my house, because I am walking through this street to go to park, and this is the traffic light I need to follow, and I need to hold my mummy or daddy hand to cross the road. So our concept spontaneously changed from making tune to road safety, and children also showed about the significance of walking not to use car. Then our Kiyana, her part she drew the house and traffic light and confidently shared about the traffic lights, In between our little ones Artham and Thivyan drew something but when I asked they kept quiet but participated actively in this theme. 19.01.2022 We celebrated Eid-al-Fitr today. First, we greeted each other, saying, ‘Eid Mubarak’. As you all know Eid-al Fitr is an important Islamic festival for Muslim communities across Australia and in many countries around the world. I informed the children about the history behind the day. Ramadan is the ninth month on the Islamic calendar, and Muslims practise it as a month of fasting, prayer and reflection with a heavy emphasis on family, community and charity. Their belief is t...hat this is the historic time when the ‘Holy Koran’, the sacred text of the Muslims, was first revealed to the Prophet Mohammed. Muslims fast to commemorate the event. The importance of the month is to purify the body and soul and to do good deeds and charitable work. ‘Eid’ means ‘celebration and Eid-al-Fitr’ means ‘Celebration of the Break or end of Fasting ’The Islamic calendar is lunar; this means that the days are counted by following the moon. Muslims always have a big gathering to view the new moon. The ‘Eid -al-Fitr celebrations with Eid prayers’ special foods, new clothes, homes are decorated, and money or gifts are given to the needy people. To help children feel the sense of connectedness, I discussed about some of the holidays that their peers practise with their families. It helps children to see some of the similarities and differences of religious holidays. We talked about Christmas, Diwali, Holi, Pongal etc. We emphasized that all religious celebrations are about compassion, kindness and empathy. After the discussion Ms syeda invited Samar and showed how to do Ed Mubarak hugging 3 times, then she talked about dates healthy fruit. To break the fast they eat dates, because it purify blood and keep healthy. After that children enjoyed eating dates.
