There are so many different materials and shown here we have teamed up granite which is one of the hardest stones available alongside a composite deck. 25.01.2022 || Fireside chats || After this amazing "winter" we have had we don t know about you guys, but we would be very happy sitting by this outdoor fire, to be all nice and cozy sipping on a lovely glass of red with family and/or friends. Ethanol and gas fireplaces can can work well in spaces both large and small and can create such a wonderful atmosphere, ambience and be very mesmerising.... The great thing about ethanol or gas fire places are, they are instantly either on or off. ( love that, no chopping of wood ) plus no cleaning up ( bonus ) With a thoughtful design in the layout and positioning they can greatly extend the life of your outdoor entertaining area during the cooler months. 25.01.2022 || We do love a tropical vibe || People love tropical gardens. They evoke the senses giving you a feeling of being on holidays without the credit card statement. The tropical look is all about lushness, the sound of a bubbling water feature or pond, the rustling of palm fronds swaying in the breeze.... A tropical garden needs lots of plants. You need to create layers, such as trees, palms and bamboo to give you height and create a canopy, giving shade to the under storey plantings. 24.01.2022 || Genius begins from the floor up || Stepping back in time to 2015 we take a look at a small backyard space we did for @primahomeswa The large retaining wall at the rear was originally limestone blocks and we had these covered with villaboard and rendered to give a far more modern look and tie in with the architecture of the home ... 24.01.2022 || Good Planning is the key to success || Creating successful outdoor entertaining areas is about creating spaces that suit both the home and its owners. The owners of this home were eager to renovate their garden themselves. As they had tried three times already without much success and wasting money they decided that it was time to take the plunge and invest in having Landscape Design.... DIY is not as simple as it looks, however we have made DIY as trouble free as possible with our Designs as they are very detailed and easy to follow. This allowed our clients to implement the works themselves with a few of their friends over a 12 month period. To make the space look large we carried the decking out to the newly built raised garden bed, which was built at a height to allow for extra bums on seats when entertaining larger crowds. They loved their Cordyline Australis and really wanted to keep so they were transplanted out into the rear raised garden bed. Even though they did not wish to have a water feature we designed a feature wall, clad with stone and three pots in front for added interest. Clever lighting by @thegardenlightcompany also means that this space remains a pleasure even when night falls. The result proves DIY success can be achieved if theres professional help in the planning stages.Simple changes but effective. What do you think? 24.01.2022 || Feeling some green and white today || There are so many different pool options and opinions you need to consider when it comes to choosing the right fibreglass pool for your family. As fiberglass pools come in a variety of shapes and sizes we suggest you make a list of what it is you are wanting and then tick those boxes off. Consider the the size and shape of the pool that will fit into your yard. Remember, you don't have to ( and probably shouldn't ) get the bi...ggest pool your space will fit. For us we believe that you should have space for movement around the pool and above all be able to get some planting/greenery in. What is the purpose for your pool? Is it for swimming laps ? or is for summer time fun with the the family? The depth of the pool is a very important consideration. Do you want to be able to touch the bottom anywhere in the pool, or perhaps be able to tread water or play volleyball games, which in that case you will want a bit of both. When it comes to colour there is once again so many options. There is no right or wrong when it comes to pool colour selection as this is really a personal choice. However, a light coloured pool can reflect the light and create the illusion of a larger pool. Whereas a darker coloured pool can create a mirrored effect. Cost is another thing to bear in mind. Different pool manufactures produce pools in different manners, therefore the quality will vary from one pool manufacture to the next. Your budget may make you choose getting a larger pool with sub-par materials compared to selecting a smaller pool made from better materials. When comparing pool shells between pool builders, be sure to compare quotes like for like. Planning for a new fiberglass pool is fun, but not as much fun as swimming in it. Well, maybe a good outdoor bar We have done a revamp of this garden and our client has just sent through this little video. This gorgeous water feature from @wg_outdoorlife has found its new home and its very exciting to see it in place. ... We a water feature for many reasons. Whether they be for a key focal point or a secondary feature, They can introduce a serenity into your garden, bringing just the right soothing sound with a gentle cascade, especially if you live in a noisy area. 16.01.2022 || Sunshine makes us happy || Visiting a Pool Display Centre is a great place to start when you are thinking about putting a pool in. One of the main reasons for this is, you get a true sense of pool sizes and you get to see the various pool designs. Just remember not always bigger is better. The size of the pool has to be in keeping with the size of the space you have. To be honest we havent specified UrbanStone for a very long time. So it was really great to reacquaint ourselves with their product.... The UrbanStone range of stone products offer a large choice of natural and engineered stone pavers. 11.01.2022 || Talk about a Cinderella story! || What greeted us was a full size tennis court that was to become a pool area incorporating a pavilion. The space presented a range of challenges and considerations to convert the old tennis court into a luxury pool zone. As access to the rear yard was not easy and the pool was dug by hand.... Every aspect was considered; coordinating textures and materials, introducing easy transition between indoors and out, balancing design, functionality, viability and growth together with a long-term vision of how the space will mature, The owners had a couple of very large golden cane palms, and a pony tail which needed to be included in the design, along with a feature plumeria. The two golden canes were reused in the raised garden bed within the pool area along with additional palms, and the mature plumeria was planted at the south end of the pool. The existing patio was painted white and extended before being paved with @ecooutdoor Garonne limestone to create the ultimate entertainers space. This award winning pool @barrierreefpoolsperth replaced the ageing tennis court and once again turned this backyard into an area enjoyed by the whole family. 11.01.2022 || This view is just not getting old || A pool is only as good as what surrounds it, so it should be designed as part of then landscape, complementing the scale of the space, which will ensure its true integration. Key to any pool area is also the planting selection. Lush tropical planting was used throughout this space. The selection of Bamboo for its ability to form a dense green screen and other plants for their foliage contrast and texture changes. When ...the Frangipani are bare through winter there is still a large body of green, plus the landscape from the park becomes a beautiful borrowed backdrop. The pools design can be a strong indication of the desired theme or style of the garden A pool can be located in a purpose - built area of your property, or it can be designed to be an integral part of the home, up against the house... 05.01.2022 || Today I grew one year older || Happy 60th birthday to me Another year older, another year wiser? Lets see I Still cant believe that 60 is my number. I have struggled with most of my birthdays that end in a zero. I know thats just a psychological thing but birthdays ending in a zero just sound that much older... The years have flown by. It only seems like yesterday that I was turning fifty and dreading it. Now ten years on Im celebrating another milestone in my life. Sixty is wrinkles - the kilos have crept on and those mongrel grey hairs and wrinkles are just not loved! I look in the mirror and think holy shit is that me, especially when the sun shines in just at right angle, I think where did I go? Im actually the same person, just with an older face that carries all of my memories. Sixty is a privilege Sixty is remembering family and friends who didnt make it, who will never be sixty. Anyone who was not given the chance to grow old would attest to that if they could. Sixty is realising that the gift of an ordinary day becomes that much more precious with each passing year. Sixty is having two parents in their eighties, and two gorgeous girls in their thirties, two beautiful son in laws and a wonderful husband who has turned sixty. Sixty is being grateful every single day. Sixty is knowing that today is a special occasion. So Happy Birthday to me See more

05.01.2022 || Boundary walls need not be boring || Our clients brought us on board right at the planning stage as they were fully aware their space was very tight and extremely visual from inside. They realised the importance of investing in hiring a Landscape Designer as their project was crucial due to the size and all the components that were in their brief.... Their brief to us was for resort - style living which we just love We had to be innovative in our design and selection of materials to bring this space together. 05.01.2022 || We love a small space with big impact || As our client's alfresco was super small we extended the current outdoor living area for more useable space. Allowing them to move comfortably from the inside to the outside. We extended the area out with new paving, and added a seating zone. As the area is very compact we also wanted to give the illusion of openness, hence the style of the added structure., with its timber slats and the return down at the end for added inte...rest and warmth.
