13.01.2022 Another practice over nighter on the mountain bikes. 25 km to a hut last night and 47 km home today. Need to be doing 80 km per day for 15 days for the real deal in October! Here we are having a cuppa in the bush on the way home. We accidentally ended up in the prescribed burn area up in Jarrahdale which still had a lot of heat in it. Could have done with some of that heat in my sleeping bag last night! Brrrrrrr.

09.01.2022 Ok so it’s pretty obvious that I won’t be going to Mongolia in 2021. So I’m changing the page title to 2022. One more year to prepare. That’s fine. This year Julien and I are planning a 3 week mountain bike ride on the Munda Biddi trail (October) and a lot of the camping gear I need for that will be the same as for Mongolia 2022 so good practice. Here is a pic from Monday night when we did an overnighter to practice with some of our gear. That’s my new RAB jacket that keeps me cozy warm!

07.01.2022 130 km and two nights sleeping at Mundabiddi huts. Man there were some tough uphill rocky washed out sections yesterday. It’s not often I have to push the bike up a hill but I did 3 or 4 times yesterday. Great fun though. All part of training for longer bike rides and eventually the Derby!
