25.01.2022 In the Montessori classroom, the day begins with a morning circle. This is a time for the classroom community to come together and to greet one another. It's also a time where the educator reviews concepts such as calendar, time and weather or introduces a new activity. Last month the weather was beautiful so we decided to do circle time outdoors to give our children a new experience. During the circle time all the children sat nicely and learnt about the calendar. Following this, Nido community also had their morning tea in the outdoor yard while singing their favourite songs.

24.01.2022 We celebrated Pancake Day at Malvern. The children helped to prepare pancakes and enjoyed these for their afternoon tea. The preparation and cooking of recipes enables children to become more independent. The children develop co-ordination skills, expand their vocabulary and their ability to make decisions.

08.01.2022 An excellent new Montessori book is now available focusing on our youngest children, from the Nido community. The book is aimed to inspire parents to look at their own homes in a different way and use the Montessori aesthetic to create an environment of uncluttered calm, benefitting the whole family. "The Montessori Baby draws on the child-led principles of the Montessori educational method to foster a first year defined by love, respect, understanding, and a surprising sense of calm."

08.01.2022 Our Nido children enjoy going outside and watering our garden bed. The children were excited to see that the tomatoes had slowly started to grow and wanted to taste them, even though they were not fully ripe. Engaging in this activity assists our children to care for, and learn about their environment; exploring different plants, leaf textures and even tasting the produce that we harvest and include on our menu.
