25.01.2022 On Tuesday our in-coming Year 12's took part in a service leadership day. This involved working in the Operation Christmas Child warehouse sorting boxes for processing and shipping. This year most boxes will go to children in Africa who have never received a Christmas present before. During lunch 2 of our Montgrove graduates Jacinta Lynch and Aiesha Oringo (class of 2017) answered questions from the class about life after HSC, solidifying friendships and supporting each other... through Year 12, doing things with purpose and passion to contribute to society in positive ways. Tell me about your experiences today... It was really enjoyable and I got a lot out of it. It really made us appreciate what we have and it made us realise how many people don’t get a lot of the basic necessities. It was really rewarding. It was really eye-opening to see little kids get that one box and it made me sad to think whether they will get a box next year. I loved knowing that I was making such a small difference even to just one child just giving them that excitement that they will get at Christmas that they may never experience in their life again. I really liked seeing how many different people were committed to the cause. It was great seeing people from a range of ages and cultures helping out.

21.01.2022 We have had some wonderful activities for Book Week this year. Older students and Secondary teachers took some time to read some stories to our Primary classes. On Monday, Kindergarten and Year 1 students took part in our Book Week parade. Kindergarten students were especially excited as this was their first Book Week Celebration. This year’s theme was ‘Curious Creatures, Wild Minds’. Well done Kindergarten and Year One parents for putting together some fabulous costumes.

15.01.2022 Last week we initiated an appeal for donations of necessary items needed by the victims of the tragic explosion in Beruit Lebanon, which has affected so many lives. On Monday, we had been overwhelmed by the generous response of the Montgrove family Since our call out, we received so many supplies that our front office and our sick bay was full. We even had some special helpers collect donations from the primary rooms. Thank you everyone! The organisers for this inititative are part of a charity called "The John Paul Foundation" (https://thejohnpaulfoundation.com/) and the charity in Lebanon that will be receiving the supplies are called "Rescue Beirut". They will then distribute the supplies to the following charities: @ImpactLeb (Impact Lebanon), @ICRC (Red Cross and @IAmCaritas (Caritas) #BeirutAppeal

08.01.2022 Earlier this year, our Year 9&10 Elective Art Classes did a portraiture unit and created artworks using charcoal. Entitled ‘War Portraits’, students looked at expressive portraiture and the effects of war on people - those on the home front and those who are collateral damage, such as lost children, mothers whose sons die in battle, etc. Please join us in appreciating this mesmerising and emotional series produced by our talented Art students - and well done Miss Reid!

06.01.2022 On Thursday, Montgrove College was able to hold our annual Eucharistic Procession led by the girls who received their First Holy Communion. Although we had to simplify the Eucharistic Procession this year, we were grateful for the opportunity to participate in this act of adoration towards Our Lord and thank him for the many blessings bestowed on us here at Montgrove. A big thank you to the staff and students who were instrumental in preparing this special occasion at Montgrove.

05.01.2022 This week we welcomed the Year 6 Wollemi Debating Team to Montgrove. We thank all those who were involved in making this event possible and look forward to our next debates in 2021.

05.01.2022 A few weeks ago we faced Blacktown Boys in Round 3 for Mock Trials. We lost the case but we won the round - so well done to our girls for the win! Pictured here are our Year 10 & 11 students engaged in the extra-curricular activity via video call. Even though a meet-up would have been ideal, it's great that we can still participate through alternative means. Thank you Miss Aguilar for your support!

04.01.2022 Today marks the beginning of HSC Trials for our Year 12 students. For the next two weeks they will sit exams on different days whilst studying intensely in between. Students who have major works in English and Drama will also make their submissions. In the words of our Principal Ms Mejia in our school newsletter recently: "We remember the girls during this time of more intense study, and hope that their journey from now until the HSC will be smooth sailing.' As ever, the entire Montgrove family is behind you with our prayers and encouragement! #Year12 #HSCTrials #AllTheBest

03.01.2022 A flash of purple, a lady with black curly hair, a suitcase and an umbrella appears. A burst of applause and the tsunami of excited children's chatter emerge from the Year 3 classroom. Penny Reeve has come to visit Montgrove to visit Year 3 to give them advice as they embark on their adventure of creating #picturebooks. Collaboration! Communication! And the biggest question of all: "How do authors evoke emotion using words and pictures?" ... As a part of our #deeplearning project, Penny conducted a workshop with us where she helped us to explore what makes a good picture book. She read three different picture books to us and then asked us to read some as well and discover the type of language, pictures and emotions that the author was trying to convey to us. Year 3's minds are buzzing like bees with all the wonderful ideas that Penny planted in our minds. We cannot wait to see her again! Thank you Penny Reeve - the penny drops.
