23.01.2022 Last weekend: netted the vines to protect them from the birds. The grapes are looking good!

22.01.2022 To all who met Tony and support and follow Moodys Wines, It is with a heavy heart we announce the passing of Tony, after a short illness, aged 75. He went peacefully and surrounded by his family. ... Its early days yet, but were looking at holding the funeral next Friday 11th January in Orange, at Holy Trinity around lunchtime it will be a celebration of his rich and well-travelled life. Thank you everybody, and from his family, Rob, Andrew and Helen, we send you our love and warmest regards. Moodys Wines will continue in some form or another, but for now we remain closed.

20.01.2022 We have had a few cold nights lately.....

18.01.2022 Spring has finally arrived at Moodys. Two weeks after Orange - only 10 km away!

18.01.2022 Martin grows beautiful Espalier Fruit trees, and he is showing them at Moodys Wines. Phone him if you are interested, or just come by Moodys Wines in Stagecoach Road to have a look at them!

18.01.2022 Moodys Wines will be closed until early September, for restocking. We will then have our 2017 Sauvignon Blanc on offer!

18.01.2022 Thank you to all who have ever enjoyed dad's company at Moody's Wines. Today we scattered dad's ashes on the vines and laid down a plaque in the top corner of the block. The plaque reads: Here, in 1998, Tony Moody made a home. He planted grape vines and made good wine.... He raised two boys and four dogs. His door was always open to friends and strangers. He told them his stories and served them a curry. We will miss him. 1943 - 2019

16.01.2022 I am in France for a little while, seeing how you make good rose, and picking up some snack recipes for serving one day in the cellar door. A bit taken aback that you can buy half a kilo of the local cheese for 7 euro.... And that is the local rose, bought by the litre from the maker, and kept prosaically in Gordons Gin bottles.

16.01.2022 And today I picked up the 2018 Ros - it tastes lovely! Thanks Chris!

15.01.2022 A fun day at the cellar door yesterday......

13.01.2022 Goes on, dry. Jan/Feb/Mar 2018 = 72mm, JFM 2017 = 180mm. But we have picked a lot of very good grapes! AND the electricity people have paid me $100 for solar power sent to them!

12.01.2022 Moody’s Wines Vintage 2019. Thanks to everybody who came to harvest, and everybody who wanted to come but had work on a Friday! Tony would have been happy. we picked a record amount. . . #v19 #orangewine #vintage2019 #harvest #shiraz #coolclimatewines #orangensw #centralwestnsw @ Moody's Wines

11.01.2022 The grass has turned to yellow dust, but with some irrigation the vines are still holding fruit. But the year 2018 to date has only had 48mm and 2017 was 500mm, with only the "drought" year of 2006 getting less.

10.01.2022 Well, while waiting for the wines to be made and ready, and with the dry weather causing no weed growth, I am going to take a short holiday in New Caledonia, where I may check out the local wine shops.

09.01.2022 The grapes continue to grow but the agapanthus are also out! Obviously not a real drought yet!

07.01.2022 I need some more of that Ros to wash this dry stuff down!

04.01.2022 Celebration of my Sauvignon Blanc!

04.01.2022 Today we started sorting out the nets. Wont be long before the birds feel hungry, or just plain thieving. Great help from Kate Perriman and Martin.

04.01.2022 Try growing grapes in the Gobi desert. Since January we have had 114mm of rain. Mongolia has had 120mm! And the wine growing regions of Bordeaux, 480mm, and the Rhone Valley, 420mm, a heck of a lot more in those six months.

03.01.2022 Last night had my favourite mussels with a glass of Moodys Sav Blanc, a delicious pairing.

02.01.2022 It finally rained yesterday! 30 mm, in a succession of storms!

02.01.2022 The dry weather is bringing some nice visitors...

02.01.2022 Well, actually we are on our way to Moodys Wines to stock up for Christmas!

01.01.2022 States climate risks are rising, led by health impacts: Moodys. SMH 9/10/18

01.01.2022 Moodys Ros won a bronze medal at the 2018 Orange Wine Show, and was judged 4th out of 22 Ross submitted. The 2017 Sav Blanc earned 44 points and the 2017 Shiraz 46 points. The Orange Show gets bigger and bigger, so, as the smallest vineyard, we are happy with these results amongst over 50 brands.
