21.01.2022 Did you know that blockbusters can produce up to 2,840 tonnes of CO2? There is now an urgent call to the industry to address its environmental impacts. Read the full article from The Guardian here.

21.01.2022 American filmmaker Ava DuVernay is behind a short documentary series titled 'New Realities' that is using new technology to amplify the stories of 10 young change-makers. The project utilises 360 degree storytelling and virtual reality to dismantle the barriers between audience and subject, creating an almost-immersive experience for viewers. This technique will help films cultivate a more genuine sense of empathy for their cause, which is something that really excites us. This is the future of filmmaking and we can't wait to be part of it. To learn more about the documentary, you can read the full article from Yahoo Life.

21.01.2022 Are you worried that your audience might have a competing worldview? It’s ok to notice some diversity within your audience group, as long as you can identify the core concern they share. Once you do that, you’ll be able to create content that resonates more strongly with all of them. We tackle these challenges in the Moonshine Moonshot podcast series. 19.01.2022 Distribution. Outreach. Impact. They’re terms you’ve probably heard before, but how do they apply to video production? We'll walk you through the steps to take before you roll camera.

19.01.2022 Earlier this year, we travelled to the Top End to film Lorraine Kabinndi sharing a COVID-19 health message as part of our Take Heart project. The Northern Territory has been one of Australia's coronavirus success stories and, as of October 2020, has zero active cases. Border restrictions have started to ease too but the wait to let Victorians in might be a long one ....

19.01.2022 You've probably heard the term 'content marketing' before but have you also secretly been wondering what it actually means? Valuable content can help you build trust with your audience, boost brand awareness and ultimately drive more sales. It's an essential tactic in any communications strategy, which is why we want to show you how to use it purposefully for your own projects. In the latest blog post for the Moonshine Moonshot podcast series, we're demystifying content marketing from the basic definition, right through to content versioning and repurposing.

18.01.2022 Crafting a brand message that resonates is quite the task. It needs to be brief and persuasive. But at the same time, it needs to spark interest for your project or product. It’s a lot harder than Nike’s famous ‘Just Do It’ tagline would have many of us believe. To write a great message, try thinking about these things: What is it that you do?... What are you trying to tell people? What challenge (or challenges) does your project address? How do you approach these challenges? How do you do it differently to others? It’s also good to remember that less is usually more. Humans have a short attention span, which means you have to get to the point in as few words as possible to influence your audience and achieve the outcome that you want. If you get your message right, you can take your audience from awareness, to understanding and finally to action.

15.01.2022 We met these inspiring kids while we were filming in South Africa for our impact project Little Stars several years ago now. The collection of films we captured for Little Stars show the surprisingly life-affirming experiences of children receiving palliative medicine. It's an uncomfortable topic for many and will often bring about blank stares or a swift avert of the eyes. But the powerful patient stories in Little Stars might help to reframe your thinking. There are a series of short films and a one-hour documentary that you can watch Visit http://ed.gr/dg8x0 to get your hands on a copy of the feature film and learn more about the project.

14.01.2022 If you've been wondering what a pre-production meeting looks like in 2020 this image tells the story. From the top down we have: Laura, who is convening the production team in Spanish from Bogotá, Colombia.... Mike, he's directing in English from Melbourne, Australia. Melissa, who is facilitating the filming from Houston, Texas in the USA. And finally Felipe is the cinematographer based in Ibagué, Colombia. The team is collaborating on the next sequence of the @ConqueringCancerCampaign, which is capturing cervical cancer prevention programs all over the world. To make this happen, they're also working closely with Liga Colombiana Contra El Cancer, a leading Colombian cancer control organisation. 2020 has been turbulent to say the least but it's also made us collaborate in new and unexpected ways which will completely transform how we all work with international partners in the future.

12.01.2022 In 2020, the most downloaded podcast episode of our original series Futurists.World was The Future of Technology with Gerd Leonhard. 09.01.2022 Who are you talking to? 09.01.2022 We're often talking about impact storytelling but maybe you're not so sure what we mean by the term? You might be wondering, 'what makes a story impactful?' Stories can be purely for entertainment, sharing information or simply a way to communicate. But impact stories are designed to get people to do something, they cause specific action, shift behaviours or change attitudes. That’s the key difference. If you can craft a compelling story and message it with a call to actio...n that really gets people wanting to do something, you are well on your way to making an impact. If you're still scratching your head, we think this post will help get your head around impact storytelling. And if you don't feel like reading, there's a podcast and video you can check out instead! https://ed.gr/dfp75

08.01.2022 Did you know that women in Kenya are up to 14 times more likely to die from cervical cancer than women living in the USA? The cost of appointments, coupled with insufficient access to health centres, are considered the primary reasons women miss crucial cervical check-ups in the region. But Women4Cancer Early Detection and Treatment are reducing the burden of this preventable disease. The group shared their progress in a blog piece for our impact film project Conquering Cancer which is showing the world that we can #EliminateCervicalCancer for the next generation.

06.01.2022 Chris, pictured above, shared her cervical cancer experience with us for the Conquering Cancer Campaign. Conquering Cancer is our latest impact film project which is celebrating the global efforts to eliminate cervical cancer for the next generation of women. Chris lives in Malaysia and she generously recounted her diagnosis with us in the short film, Fighting Cervical Cancer Chris' Story, which you can watch now on the Conquering Cancer YouTube channel. This is an important watch for anyone with a cervix or if you know someone who has one. With the right systems in place, cervical cancer is almost entirely preventable and Conquering Cancer is showing the world how.

05.01.2022 We were introduced to Ericah (pictured with her young son) while producing our impact film project @ConqueringCancerCampaign. Ericah is a single mother living in Zambia, But she is more than a caregiver she is the breadwinner in her family, too. Raising four children on your own is tough at the best of times, but Ericah was also recently diagnosed with Stage 2 cervical cancer. After her diagnosis, Ericah spent a month in hospital and feared for her children's wellbeing. H...er eldest child even took on some causal work to make ends meet. Sadly, this is a common reality for many women suffering from cervical cancer, especially those living in low-income countries. The campaign is advocating for lifesaving cervical cancer control methods like HPV vaccination, screening and treatment programs to be made accessible to women right across the world. Currently a woman dies every 2 minutes from cervical cancer but it is possible to prevent. If you want to learn more, jump over to Conquering Cancer and join the movement. We wish Ericah a safe recovery and hope her story encourages everyone with a cervix to book in a screening if they're due.

05.01.2022 We couldn't agree more, Frank. We're all swamped with video content these days and so much of it doesn't cut through. Nobody wants to spend hours creating video content that no one likes, shares, or even watches. So our advice is to stop making boring videos or films. No matter the length, content or style if it's delivered authentically and emotionally, you’ll have a better chance of reaching your audience and making an impact. We know it’s hard to communicate well, which... is why we created the Moonshine Moonshot series. Head over to http://ed.gr/dfp8t and let us know any tips you learnt or anything you wished we’d expanded on. Your feedback will ensure we’re creating the right content and communicating effectively with you.

04.01.2022 Today marks the end of National Palliative Care Week in Australia. There are so many extraordinary people who have dedicated their lives to working in palliative care, like Dr Mark Boughey. We've known Mark for close to 10 years now and his view of the world is anything but morbid. He never fails to inspire our team. ... Mark is featured in this short film with the remarkable Carmen. We shared Carmen's story close to 8 years ago. It is still resonating with audiences from all walks of life and has clocked almost 600,000 views. Carmen spoke to us for our first impact films, Life Before Death. A citizen of the world, Carmen lived on almost every continent, designing apparel for some of the word's most lucrative fashion brands. She was preparing to launch a new label in Japan when she was given a heartbreaking diagnosis: cancer. Carmen's cancer was aggressive and in this this short film, she generously discussed her treatment, which included palliative care. It is an intimate call for living well and dying better. Carmen's story is part of a collection of short films we produced to support the Life Before Death feature, which was released in 2012. https://ed.gr/dfp61

02.01.2022 Pivot! Have you heard that word enough? While the pandemic has caused massive disruptions to the film industry, border closures have also lead to a rise in more community-based storytelling. Without the flexibility to look further afield, filmmakers have had to consider local resources for their productions, which has given opportunities to fresh, and perhaps once overlooked, cast and crew (aka the industry had to pivot). This article explores how India is tackling filmmaking in the midst of COVID-19 and the doors opening for unsung talent. We've certainly had to explore working with new crews overseas and it's been a refreshingly good experience. What's changed for your work in this period? Tell us in the comments below, we'd love to know.

01.01.2022 Do you want your next film to make an impact? In this episode of the Moonshine Moonshot series, we break down how to create content that will inspire your audience to take action. Stay up to date and subscribe via Spotify or wherever you tune into podcasts.

01.01.2022 On one of the latest episodes of our original streaming series Futurists World, the guests discuss how the need for strong social and emotional skills in the workplace will grow dramatically over the next few decades. As many industries look into automation and other cost-cutting strategies, it’s actually our human capabilities like creativity, collaboration, critical thinking and empathy that will keep us in our jobs. All of these attributes are essential to the work we produce at Moonshine Agency. They enable us to work closely with our customers and help us tell their stories. So the next time someone tells you to 'stop being so sensitive' at work, direct them to this episode on the Futurists World YouTube channel. Watch the full episode: https://youtu.be/XYOs-CdJGZs
