19.01.2022 Dear Agoda, owned by Booking Holdings based in Norwalk Conneticut, who also owns booking.com among other online agencies. Thank you for the call from Bangkok yesterday. Your service agent was lovely. I'm afraid your business proposition was disappointing though. I've decided not to take up your promotion offer that you will reduce your commission by half (to 7.5%)(noting I can't claim GST because of your overseas business structure) if I accept bookings from 'your' customers... that have booked 4 times with you over the last 2 years and give you the 7.5% commission plus take off 15% from my room rate. As I explained I'm not sure how your promotion will help many Australian accommodation providers who are doing it really tough at the moment. Think of Victoria, what about far west coast of South Australia with no WA border travel, and that's only a couple of examples. Price competing when your business and your competitors business is at rock bottom only brings the business closer to closing the door, but it will help Agoda. Overseas, taking Australians money for Australians domestic travel, and out of touch sadly. Thank you but no thank you, not today. See more
