24.01.2022 Today was our 30th Landcare anniversary event. 19 Landcare members visited some of our revegetation sites including the recent 20 million trees and CCMA streamside projects and some old revegetation projects in Morrisons. Past and present Landcare coordinators compared notes as well as past committee members, reflecting on the last 30 years of achievements. We then had a gala dinner at the Ballan Commercial Hotel to finish the celebrations!

22.01.2022 Grassy Eucalypt Woodlands Stewardship Program. All properties in the Victorian Volcanic Plain (red) shown below may be eligible. The aim of the Grassy Eucalypt Woodlands Stewardship Program is to support private landholders to protect these critically endangered ecosystems. The program is delivered through a 10-year voluntary agreement that is supported by both financial and non-financial incentives. ... The program is also supported by annual workshops and forums for landholders wanting to learn more about the Grassy Eucalypt Woodlands and are also a great opportunity to meet other landholders involved in the program (please note these are optional). Corangamite Catchment Management Authority field staff support the delivery of the program via annual onsite meetings to discuss the progress, any issues arising etc. We are also available to assist with native plant and weed identification or any other questions that may arise throughout the program. This film explains why this unique river, travelling from the Wombat Forests near Ballarat to the Barwon River at Geelong, is in trouble.... The Victorian Gorse Taskforce (VGT) grant obtained by the Moorabool Catchment Landcare Group to assist Private Landholders in controlling Gorse on their land has been extended until December 2020, to give landholders more time to take advantage of this popular weed control assistance program! 04.01.2022 Snapshot of Waterbug testing we did last week in Morrisons with the Corangamite Catchment Management Authority. The presence of (or lack of) a diverse range of Waterbugs is a good indicator of River health, one that can be taught easily and accessible to everyone. We hope to run more testing in Spring. We will have some intro Waterbug monitoring equipment 9AM this Saturday in Mill Park, Ballan as apart of our Volunteer Platypus surveys. ... All welcome to come! See more

02.01.2022 Thank you to everyone who came out to our Volunteer Platypus Testing on the weekend. We could not have done it without our amazing Volunteers, you all contributed and made the day special. The results from our testing will tell us the distribution of Platypus in the river systems of our region, enabling us to better target resources and identify opportunities. ...
