13.01.2022 Check out this wonderful website with a wealth of information about Aussie native animals and how to attract them to your garden. It could help you identify a bird or insect in the garden, or give you a garden project to create, to help build corridor linkages between backyards and between bushland patches like Moorhen Flats. https://www.backyardbuddies.org.au/

07.01.2022 Moorhen Flats Bushcare Group aka the Creek Freecs will be holding its regular monthly Working Bee on Saturday 1 February 2020, between 2 pm and 5 pm. Park in the car park at 106 Deshon St, Woolloongabba and walk around till you find us. BCC have instituted a "No Dig" policy while they conduct soil tests which could take until early March. So we will not be able to do dig or plant any new plants. As the grass and weeds are in the ascendant we can profit by clearing space around existing small plants as well as slashing and spraying in some areas. Hope to see you out and about getting some exercise on a warmish Brisbane summers day.

02.01.2022 Hello friends of Moorhen Flats. Just to update you on the state of play with the Council's partial lifting of restrictions on activities on Habitat Brisbane sites, of which Moorhen Flats is one. We are now allowed to recommence Working Bees within strict guidelines such as, no more than 10 people on site, physical distancing and sanitising of tools and equipment to be carefully practised. Because most of us fall into the at risk category (over 70) we have decided to delay th...e return to our regular monthly Working Bees which would normally have been on 6 June and see how things settle down. We have also put our regular Thursday afternoon sessions on hold until further notice for the same reason. It is very frustrating not being out there amongst it all but we have decided that at this stage it is better to err on the side of caution. I will notify any developments. Regards Richard See more
