18.01.2022 Signs and symptoms of hearing loss or ear issues in school-age children: Frequently asking for repeats Runny ears... Asking for TV/music to be turned up Difficulty listening in background noise (for e.g. TV, in the classroom, large rooms) Difficulty in school (for e.g. listening, completing tasks, understanding tasks, staying focused) Frequent ear infections (more than 2 over a 3 month period or more than 3 over a 6 month period) Delays in speech and language Is easily frustrated or experiences communication breakdowns beyond what is expected of their age Often misses what is being said unless they are looking directly at you Cannot identify where sounds are coming from or misses sounds (for e.g. truck, horn beeping, bird whistling). Is exhausted at the end of school Shows signs of behavioural problems or social difficulties So keep on the lookout and if you or your child are experiencing any of these above symptoms please speak to your GP or book a hearing test :) -Moranbah Hearing
