22.01.2022 To the members of Moranbah Town Centre Surgery in our transition we will be closing this facebook page down and would like to invite you to our new business page under our new name The Oaktree Family Medical Centre. Thank you for your patience and we hope to see you soon! https://m.facebook.com/OaktreeFamilymedical/

19.01.2022 Important Announcement : Change of Ownership of the Moranbah Town Centre Surgery. To the existing patient, we ask for your patience and understanding during this transition period which should last no longer than a month. As a totally new medical centre there will be a few changes you need to be aware of during this time of changeover: The surgery is now under new locally owned and private ownership.... We would like to invite the current patients of the practice to stay on with us. The practice will now be called the Oaktree Family Medical Centre We aim to provide you with a high quality, friendly and caring medical service which takes the time that you need to deliver the best care and health outcomes possible. Female and male GP’s should be available to you, barring illness or an act of God. All of the Moranbah Town Centre Surgery GP’s were offered a position with practice, however some were locums (FIFO) Doctors who chose to finish up their contracts. We are happy that Dr Hengi and Dr Sally will continue on with the new centre. Extensive renovations will be occurring at practice, to update disability access and due to the age of the building bring it up to the current required council and government standards. We ask for your understanding at this time and occasional weekend closures. We are also excited to announce too that we are increasing the current size of the practice to create a larger centre to bring the community more services and doctors. The practice hours remain the same during the transition period then will expand in line with the communities needs. The surgery has always been privately billed, however the fee structure will be changing and we regret any hardship or upset this change will inevitably cause. The blanket policy of Bulk Billing under 16’s and over 65’s and Health Care card holders will not continue as it is unfortunately not sustainable with the costs of running a surgery in a rural town under this model to do so. We suggest you write to your local member in parliament to suggest an increase in the rebate for healthcare services. However, if you are under severe financial stress, and cannot afford care please speak with your doctor who can discuss your individual options. All the phone numbers will remain the same. All the other contact details will be changing over the next few weeks so look out for a the new facebook page and website with online booking and other new features. Please feel free to come and discuss any of these changes directly with our management team, rather than use social media allowing us to fully explain any concerns you may have during this time. We look forward to meeting and caring for your health needs Dr Margaret Swenson and the Oaktree Family Medical Centre Staff
