24.01.2022 The SS nameplate was introduced to the Holden range with the HQ model in August 1972 to coincide with the 1972 Sydney Motor Show. Based on the Belmont sedan the... HQ SS featured the 253ci Holden 4.2 Litre V8, Aussie M20 four speed manual and 3.36 diff, bucket seats, sports steering wheel and GTS instruments. Other features included, 14x6 inch sports wheels with Radial tyres, GTS side vents, Blackouts, Black boot panel, and bonnet stripes from the headlights to the front scuttle plate. Colours available were, 'Ultra Violet', 'Infra Red' and 'Lettuce Alone' Green. Holden originally planned a run of 1600 cars, which turned out to be a mistake, so the company was forced to produce a second batch of 1200.
