14.01.2022 Done and DONE! What a season. After coming so close to not having one, it finally got off the ground. The boys had a win and the girls increase in numbers over the season to culminate in their strongest performance in their final game. The U17’s plugged away despite being down on numbers, but showed improvement the whole time. Big shoutout to come!

Rather, all our highlighter players graduated Year 12 today, possibly even including the guy in blue (well... he went to school in qld so... who knows ) Congrats guys! 05.01.2022 HOW FAR CAN YOU GO?... Many of us watch in awe as players like Buddy Franklin grab the ball and charge down the field at lightning fast speed, watching their legs power on in a blur of skin and team colours. How can anyone match the speed and endurance of the players in the nation’s home grown sport? Some players have the ability to grab the ball and clear over one hundred metres in one run.... The endurance of an AFL player has to be maintained at an absolute level. The average player runs anywhere between 12 to 20 kilometres per game, and then keeps on running!!! Players rotate through the bench regularly with many interchanges happening through out a game, giving them a short rest, but when they are back out there before they know it. AFL players have been known to kick goals from up to 80 metres out with amazing accuracy, as well as finding their player down the field. Great skill is needed to position yourself under the ball, find the contest and leap for that giant mark as well. Training like an AFL player is not easy. To know exactly how much work a player has done in a given session can be seen by using a GPS monitoring system One of the SUNS top speedsters and aerobic beasts has gathered GPS data for us at training last night to see exactly how far we actually do run/walk/jog. How many calories were burnt! 1h. 30m. 6s. 4.16km 880 calories 32 outside Check out that heart rate! 05.01.2022 Well well - we ain’t all bad! Congratulations to all players that polled in the AFL North West Gilles medal night. For the Women, we had Colleen Towney Fernando polling in the top 10 for the Women’s competition and we got a bit creative but wanted to credit Wyatt Spiteri-Roberts with the polling highest for the Suns in the men’s competition. ... It’s not all about the points though. Everyone of our players had heart, and without that we don’t have a club. Thank you everyone

04.01.2022 Holy guacamole. What a day of finals action. It was a sight to see. Great battles, exchanging leads, captivating match-ups! A fitting day to end a great season. Congratulations to the Tamworth Roosters AFL who took out the U14’s and U17’s and the Gunnedah & District Australian Football Club for taking out the Senior Women’s and Men’s titles. Well done to the Inverell Saints AFC and Tamworth Swans AFC for their spectacular efforts throughout the season and terrific efforts during in the Grand Final. And that’s footy done and dusted for the 2020! But not the clubs. Still epic things to come.
