15.01.2022 We’ve missed you! Back to work from Monday 27 April! Not exactly but we can provide more dental treatments. Read on for what this means to you... Due to the COVID19 pandemic we have been restricted as to the dental treatments we can provide. From Monday 27 April the Australian Government has reduced all dental practices back to level 2 operating restrictions. While this means we can provide more services for you, it doesn’t mean business as usual unfortunately. ... So what can we do? Well, that depends.... we can certainly still treat any emergency you may have, but we can now do a limited number of our everyday treatments as well. It is best to call one of friendly front office co-ordinators who will walk you through your situation. Why do we have restrictions on our treatments? This is to protect us, healthcare workers, and you, our community. There are concerns that health care workers are at greater risk of contracting COVID19 because we work up close and personal and because when we work there is always lots of spray happening. What are we doing to protect ourselves? And you? You will notice some changes: Routine screening questions about your health to ensure that you are not in a risk category when you make an appointment plus again the morning of your appointment. Staggered appointment times to limit patient numbers in the waiting room at any one time. Clear screens to protect our reception staff. Strategies to limit the number of people in our reception area : If possible only the patient being treated is to attend the appointment Please wait in your car or on a seat outside the reception door until approached by the dentist. We know you appreciate our already high infection control standards. We are now doing more to keep both you and us safe: You will be required to use hand sanitizer when you enter the practice Our staff have always used personal protection equipment (PPE) for each patient but you may notice us wearing masks and gloves more often More frequent cleaning of hard surfaces in public areas Removal of magazines and other items from reception Longer appointment times to allow for additional clean up after your appointment You will be asked to use a rinse before your treatment. Depending on the type of treatment you are having, this may be carried out in a slightly different way to what you are used to. Please be assured that the health and safety of both you and our wonderful staff is our number one priority - we are doing all that we can to ensure that everyone is protected while still delivering our health services. Although the treatments we can provide and how we provide them is still somewhat limited, please know we are here to continue helping you care for your oral health. If you have any concerns or dental issues we would still love to hear from you... please contact the practice on 07 54446166 to contact the More Smiles team. The More Smiles Team

10.01.2022 To all of our amazing patients We at More Smiles have been thinking of you during this tough time. We hope you have been in good health and maybe even used this time of social distancing to get some odd jobs done around the home. If you have any dental concerns and are unsure about what to do, we are still here for you so give us a call and we can point you in the right direction.... Although we haven’t been able to see you for your regular checks and cleans, there are some things you can do to take extra care of your teeth to hopefully avoid problems. Here is a short list of the ‘‘dental dos and dental don’ts’’ during this global pandemic: - Avoid chewing on very hard or sticky things like ice and toffee. The ice can cause cracking in your teeth and the toffee can sometimes pull out existing fillings. - Stick with your regular meal times and avoid constant grazing. The more often you eat, the higher risk you will have to developing dental decay so try and space out your eating (this is easier said than done during a lockdown!) - Continue brushing twice daily using a fluoride toothpaste. This will keep bacterial levels down as well as help keep your enamel strong and decay-free - If you’re a regular flosser, continue as usual. However, if you’re not a flosser, this time might be a great place to start! - Avoid having excess sugar. Under lockdown, the temptation is to snack on sweet treats but this can be a bit of a trap. The odd sugary treat is fine but avoid having them regularly. We are looking forward to seeing you all again once life returns back to normal. Also, don’t forget we are still open for emergencies during the lockdown so don’t hesitate to contact us if you are in pain or have a problem. Wishing you the very best from the team at More Smiles

02.01.2022 After a long and arduous few months of lockdown, life is slowly going back to normal for us here on the Sunshine Coast as the government begins to remove COVID-19 restrictions. Many of the restrictions in the dental industry have also been recently lifted. So what does this mean for you? The great news is that we are finally able to see our patients for their regular check-ups and cleans! A big thank you to everyone for being so patient while we had to delay your necessary pr...eventive care. We urge any of you who are overdue for your routine visits to contact us to organise an appointment time. We also ask that you continue to be patient as the coming months may prove to be a bit of a ‘log jam’ as we see patients who are due for their routine visits as well as those who missed out during the lockdown. As safety is always our first priority, you will notice that we continue to do some things slightly differently to ensure the safety of both our staff and patients. We have extra screening questions before your appointment as well as the morning of your appointment, social distancing restrictions and some modifications to our treatments. Hand sanitizing for patients, additional environmental cleans and additional PPE usage for staff continue. So in the meantime, stay healthy, continue looking after your teeth and we look forward to seeing you at your next visit here at More Smiles! See more
