25.01.2022 Congratulations to Year 11 student Ariella, who has been selected by the Australian Olympic Committee to attend this year’s National Summit. This is a great honour. Ariella is one of 20 young leaders from around Australia who have been selected by a panel of Olympians for their efforts in driving positive change within their communities. The National Summit is designed to give the youth a voice and empower young leaders to shape the future of the Olympic movement in Australia. The Summit will provide a platform for the young leaders to share their experiences and ideas to come up with fresh new ideas that can benefit people in not only their own communities but also across the country.

18.01.2022 Over the weekend, eleven Robotics students from MBC and MBBC competed in the FIRST Tech Challenge Queensland State Championships. The students competed under two teams: RDICTBOY and Other Variant Item, and did both of the Colleges proud. After qualifications, Other Variant Item was ranked 5th in the state while RDICTBOY, suffering technical problems, were placed 28th. Due to their ranking, Other Variant Item was an alliance captain and competed in the semi-finals. Unfortunately, they were pitted against the top two ranked teams. After losing the first round, they clawed back a win in the second round, but were thwarted by a technical issue in the last round and were knocked out of the semi-finals. The teams are now waiting to hear if they have qualified for the National Finals. Well done to all involved!

12.01.2022 Last week, Year 11s Ashleigh, Sophie, and Lara and Year 10 Alana attended the Young Engineers Executive Breakfast. They were the only college students in attendance, and it gave them the ability to talk with engineers in a number of fields, gaining real-world insight into their work! They heard from Louise Dudley and Neil Scales, giving speeches on their profession and leadership. The girls said it was a very valuable experience, allowing them to get advice and insight into the engineering profession, and life after school as a whole.

04.01.2022 We're excited to announce that Year 9 Harriet, Year 11 Lil and Year 10 Lucy have been named in the Basketball Queensland U18 State Performance Program. Over 200 talented athletes turned out to trials in Brisbane, Townsville and Rockhampton earlier this month, making this one of the biggest U18 SPP trials they have ever had. The SPP is BQ’s second tier high-performance program for players aged U16 and U18, which has seen identified athletes go on to represent Queensland and Australia, play in both the NBL and WNBL and secure college scholarships in the USA. State Champs will take place in January, where an U18 state squad will be selected, with Nationals scheduled in April 2021. Congratulations girls!
