18.01.2022 As another Valentine's Day Approaches a few thoughts from your local florist about the mental struggle I face every Valentine's Day. February 14, 2020 falls o...n Friday this year and it is a day as a florist that I approach with a sense of unease, built up nerves, and an actual feeling of dread. I get hit by anxiety, worry and stress as the day draws closer and closer. I cannot sleep, I spend my whole night thinking and planning for the day, worried about what will come, or not come. Why wind yourself up so much, you may ask? Because it is an unpredictable day. I have no clue what to expect, even with our ability to track our sales from year to year, it does not predict all the store that decide to start carrying flowers just for these special occasions. Suddenly, every shop and box store is now a florist for a day. My level of competition goes through the roof and instead of competing with just the other local florist we are all now competing against every box store, corner store and Tom Dick and Harry who believes that they should carry flowers for Valentine's Day. Walking into Walmart and seeing a skid of roses that have been shipped on trucks and planes no one knows how many times, half with little to no water in the bottom to feed them, arriving on Tuesday to sit in the warmth of the store, where they blow open, go brown, get handled a thousand times, and their heads patted by almost every passer by is a heart breaking sight to a florist. Never mind, that the amount of waste from them bringing in these florals is also heart wrenching. They do not, nor do they have the time to properly care for the flowers that are brought in. Often you see more than half the skid go to waste. The old adage that you get what you pay for is so true, as often you end up throwing out a fair number of the flowers that have gone bad before you even have a chance to enjoy them when you purchase them from these stores that normally do not carry flowers. But as a florist there is no way that I can compete with the big box stores that bring in their florals. But here's the rub..... I do not want to. I will not sacrifice the quality of my florals in a futile attempt to compete with the big box stores and every other store that is suddenly a floral shop for one day. Instead, I choose to carry locally grown florals purchased from your neighbors who grow them. Instead I choose to bring in florals that have been grown all over Ontario , top quality, locally harvested florals. Flowers that I love and care for as if they were my children. Yes, we also gets imports but they are quality imported florals of a higher grade than what you see at the want to be florists. When our flowers arrive they are cleaned, freshly cut, hydrated properly, and then placed in our cooler for proper storage. The flowers are feed properly, hydrated properly and cared for with the utmost passion. Yes, my prices are higher, but we work with all budgets, you just have to let me know the price point you are comfortable with. We want everyone to enjoy flowers, they bring so much joy to the world. Not convinced yet, well here are a few more reasons: 1. Your local floral shop is just that local, run by local families who are passionate about the industry that they have choose to conduct business in. I LOVE FLOWERS 2. Your local floral shop owners have been trained, they are experts in their industry, they are passionate, caring and they take the care of their flowers seriously. They have taken classes, they have competed in competitions, they have many years of experience loving the floral industry. 3. Their customer service is incomparable, they will give you care tips, they will wrap your flowers, they provide advise and put the blooms together properly Florist are attentive in the service they provide you and they add a personalized touch. They will make your gift as special as the person you are giving it to 4. Your local floral shop is supporting other local industries by purchasing locally grown flowers and plants. They are putting money back into their communities, and when you purchase from your local floral shop you are helping that family put food on their table. 5. Florist enjoy seeing you and getting to know you. I have been blessed to experience so many moments in people lives, to be there with them as they create unique memories. Quality flowers on Valentine's Day leave a memorable lasting impression. They leave an impact. Leave an impact this Valentine's Day, choose your local floral shop.

13.01.2022 **Important Message** Dear Customers - we would like to assure you that we are taking all measures to ensure the safety of our customers and staff during the Covid-19 Pandemic. In the short term, all of our deliveries will be "contactless" meaning that your delivery will not be signed for by the recipient, and will be placed at the door for the recipient to retrieve. If we have the phone number of the recipient, we will call them on our arrival to advise that we have a delive...ry, so that they can retrieve the delivery from their door. If no answer, or no phone number has been given, our driver will knock at the door, and then stand back from the door to carry out the delivery. Our driver will take the name of the receiver which will be noted on the delivery sheet. Any deliveries to aged care homes or hospitals will follow the protocols put in place by the aged care home or hospital, and our drivers will be following strict hygiene practices. None of our staff or drivers are presenting with any symptoms of Covid-19 and have been advised to self isolate if any symptoms do occur.
