25.01.2022 Introducing FRANCIS BRODIE - Oboe // MBSO's MUSICAL INSPIRATIONS Frances has been playing oboe for more than 25 years, including playing as Principal Oboe of the Brisbane Symphony Orchestra for the last 15 years. She loves the instrument’s tone and enjoys the challenge of making reeds, always striving for that non-existent ‘perfect reed’. Outside of music, Frances works in health, safety and environmental compliance and is also a Bowen... Therapist. She is a bushwalking instructor and Board member with the Duke of Edinburgh Award in Queensland, and also recently started a new company providing online health and safety training to allied health professionals.

15.01.2022 Introducing REBEKAH HALL - Violin // MBSO's MUSICAL INSPIRATIONS Rebekah graduated from the Queensland Conservatorium of Music with a BMus (First Class Honours) in 2018, studying under Michelle Walsh. During her studies, she was awarded the Matilda Jane Aplin Prize for Violin Performance; selected to represent the Conservatorium in a string quartet for the Musical Chairs Festival in Montreal, Canada; and was also concertmaster for several orchestral projects. In her final yea...r, she led the Conservatorium symphony orchestra at QPAC for Mahler’s ‘Symphony of a Thousand’. Rebekah started learning to play the violin at four and a half and received her AMusA when she was 14 years old. As an avid and passionate orchestral player, Rebekah was a member of the Queensland Youth Orchestra for six years, and over the past four years has been a member of the Australian Youth Orchestra (AYO), playing in two of their International Tours. In 2019, Rebekah performed the complete Vivaldi’s Four Seasons with the Cadenza Chamber Players. She also played in the AYO for programs that included the Momentum Ensemble in Melbourne, Chamber Players in Sydney, and the International Tour to Europe, China and Australia. This year, Rebekah is an Upbeat Artist with Camerata, performing for their online concert series and at a live concert in Toowoomba! She is also excited to be touring with the musical theatre group Lynch and Paterson sometime in 2021. Rebekah is a passionate violinist and enjoys passing on her love for it through teaching. In addition to her private studio, she has also started teaching at four schools this year! The Lalo is one of her favourite works for violin - one that she played during her first year at the Con! She is thrilled to be performing it with the Moreton Bay Symphony Orchestra.
