Quite a few hunters have come to us recently looking for options as they cant get a decent fit with other brands, so as a niche manufacturer that puts Australian hunters first, we are very pleased to announce they have been specifically catered for with a waist belt that fits the 26-32 Inch waist sizes. Customer Bryce was one of the first and helped us out with the patterning of this belt and was patient enough to wait, so he was rewarded with the first one out of the box. 16.01.2022 I recently tested this latest release mat from Sea To Summit on a solo backpack hunt. We first saw the samples last year and have been eagerly awaiting their arrival. Winter conditions lately up in Sambar country have been the coldest I can remember for a while. This latest offering in the top end Etherlite range of backpacking mats from S2S is an amazing bit of kit. R value of 6.2-yes that’s right over 6! This is unheard of and it’s amazing and exciting how much gear has ev...olved in recent times and is continually evolving. It’s what we constantly strive for with our hunting designs, and we love supporting brands with this common goal. Needless to say it was an awesome success, I was so warm it was great. Remember, this is one thing we will always advise our customers and is a constant discussion point with our customers in store- if you are into backpack hunting and thinking about your gear and staying warm, forget about sleeping bags and shelters for now, as warmth starts with stopping the cold conduction into your body from the freezing cold ground. 08.01.2022 This hunt is from a couple of years back on the Sunday arvo of my local Westernport ADA branch hunt. With 2 seasons of development drawing to a close, our Alpine stalker 30lt backpack was finally into production, my personal pre-production models had been with me for a long time, and the final one had done some serious hours. I was loving it, it had proven perfectly fit for purpose and un-breakable so far, but I was out to try and reach its limit and test a couple of sewing ...points I wanted to be absolutely sure about. Needless to say i didnt break it, it broke me! For those in the club that know, they will remember helping me out after I barely made it out of the bush due to me blowing out my knee. I got a bit too keen and ended up loading the whole stag in, plus my gear (just short of 50kgs pack alone) and trying to get it all out through that terrain in one go. Anyway...I hope you enjoy this little hunt, the run through of the pack and it might help some to pickup a couple of things about the breakdown of a deer. Once back home, a few injections later and some stern words from my physio about acting my age and the knee was good again and I was back in the hills:) ! 05.01.2022 Great to see one of our regular customers Mick with some hard earned success on this ripper Eildon Stag. Mick came in last weekend to grab a pair of our new pack rain pants to keep him warm and dry and break the cold winds while glassing, and he told me about how the recent hunt unfolded. He and his buddies had been putting a lot of time in and had this stag on camera last year and really wanted to try and get him this year but had been struggling with time in between the lockdowns. Just prior to the last one it all came together spotting him on a face, stalking around and getting the drop on him!
