12.01.2022 In the US, a Federal Court Judge has ruled that random searches of people by police violates their constitutional rights. In Queensland, the police cannot randomly search you - they must have a reason. You do not have to answer the question "have you got something in your pockets?" or "turn out your pockets" - unless they have a reason.... If they ask you, "do you give me permission to search you/ or your car?" - you can say no. If you're unsure, you can call a lawyer.

10.01.2022 CHANGES TO COME INTO EFFECT ON TUESDAY 21/08/12: Offender Levy From 21 August 2012, a levy will be applied to any offender (other than a child) sentenced in a Queensland Court. The Offender Levy is not an order of the court and does not form part of any sentence imposed by a judge or magistrate.
