25.01.2022 Yesterday I finally delivered and hung my cottage garden commission. This one took me 4 and a half months to complete. It was meant to keep me busy during isolation but then restrictions lifted and I got busy again with classes and workshops. 1.5m x 1m stained glass mosaic.
24.01.2022 Back in March I held my first Pixelate workshop. This workshop was to be held over two consecutive Sundays. I managed to hold the first lesson before COVID 19 quickly sent us all into lockdown. Now that restrictions have lifted I am back teaching and holding my workshops and weekly classes. Yesterday I held the second part of my Pixelate workshop. It was cold outside and toasty inside by the fire. No better way to spend a wintery Sunday. The girls are doing superb work. Their patience and high level of skill is to be commended. These are all really stunning works in the making.
22.01.2022 Yesterday was a special day as it was Margarets 80th birthday. Here she is with her latest mosaic. Margaret has been attending my classes for the past two and a half years so I thought I would share some photos of her beautiful mosaic creations.
21.01.2022 This week at my Studio in Blackwood Olga Wright finished her gorgeous little meerkat. This one she started back before COVID came and changed our lives. He looks so fluffy you could cuddle him. Beautiful work Olga and its so good to have you back at classes. Two first timers to mosaics also completed their mosaics. Elena finished some of her colourful coasters. I love the patterns and colours she chose. Anna completed her lovely little bird, the first of a series of small mosaics. Fantastic work girls
21.01.2022 Some finished pieces from my weekly mosaic classes. Anne Allen finished her superb beach scene which was done in smalti, gold smalti, found rocks and shells. House numbers are popular this week with Cheryl Smith, Andrea Jennison and Logan Ruby all completing theirs.
21.01.2022 Thank you all who participated or donated to my Bee Bath Workshop to raise funds for the SA Bushfire appeal. I am so warmed and impressed by the generosity and kindness of the mosaic community in South Australia. We all had a great time and it was for a worthy cause. In all we raised an amazing $2060. ... I had a lot of input from the participants of the workshop on which charity to donate the money to and I hope you will all be happy with my two donations. I found this to be much harder than organising the workshops and am relieved to have finally moved your money on to two good causes. Firstly I have donated $1060 to Trees for Life. This donation will buy close to 200 trees, 200 tree guards and stakes for Cudlee Creek, the Yorke Peninsula and Kangaroo Island. I spoke to Bev Langley from Minton Farm and she recommended that I call Michelle Barrett from KI Kennels Food and Fodder. Michelle spoke to me at length about the devastation the farmers and Native Wildlife have and are still enduring. Michelle was in tears and by the end of the call I was a mess. I asked that she direct a $500 donation to help the farmers to feed their animals and another $500 towards feed for the native animals. Michelle assured me that the feed will be delivered upon receipt of our money and was so grateful for our donation. Well done and thanks again girls!
20.01.2022 Last week at Mosaics by Design Studio. Smalti and stained glass blue wren by Anne Allen. There is no end to this girls talent. Superb! Cindy Golding sent me a photo of her gorgeous bling mirror in situ with a painting of grandma Fanny reflected. ... Margaret finished her cat mosaic. Margaret always has a couple of mosaics on the go and at 80 she is not slowing down. Well done!
19.01.2022 I have been pretty quiet on FB for the past six or so weeks. I thought I would be spending my isolation time cleaning out cupboards and experimenting and creating with some ideas in my head but instead I have spent my time designing a cottage garden mosaic. I was successful with the commission and am now on to it. With Masterchef to keep me company I am pretty happy

18.01.2022 On Wednesday Jane Silk completed her Green Man mosaic. The Greenman is an ancient Celtic artefact, legendary symbol of rebirth and cycle of new growth that appears every Spring. He is also Environmental Guardian and Keeper of the Forests. He lives in ancient woodlands. The head is regarded as the seat of the soul. He is the symbol of regenerative life and interdependance of all things. This is Janes Australian version...and what a bloody brilliant version it is! He was an integral part of my Wednesday classes and he will be missed. It has been my pleasure to witness Janes persistence, with every piece a part of her heart and soul.
17.01.2022 Yesterday Susan Eaton completed her beautiful gum nut mosaic. This one took her about a year to complete as she mainly worked on it during class. I think its fabulous Susan. Well done

Margot had permission from Steve Biro Photography to use his photo for her mosaic.

15.01.2022 Yesterday I held my Bee Bath Workshop to raise funds for the bushfire appeal where 100% of the money raised will be donated. A great time was had with 17 lovely ladies and we managed to raise $1290. After the second bee bath workshop I will have everyones preferred charity to make the donation. 13.01.2022 Yesterday Linda Finished her el Questro Gorge mosaic which she started at my Pixelate Workshop. It still needs to be cleaned up a bit but I couldnt wait to show it. This one was layered and a couple of styles that I teach were used in this mosaic, pixelate in the water and cliff behind and realism on the rock. It wasnt the easiest mosaic to pull off but what an accomplishment! I think its brilliant! Congratulations Linda

Congratulations Margot its absolutely fabulous!

09.01.2022 During our lock down period I was asked by the lovely Naomi Clarke to hold mosaic lessons via video chat. Naomi has created a beautiful heart inspired by a heart found on Pinterest as a memory to her sister. I am looking forward to Naomi and her carer Sanji joining my Wednesday class via video. The very sweet Alethia has been doing private lessons with me for the past 3 weeks and has also created a beautiful heart for her God Father. Yesterday Anne Allen finished her stun...ning Nasturtium mosaic which she started at my Realism workshop last year. It was a good project for her to work on during lockdown. I am so excited to be back holding Saturday, Tuesday and Wednesday classes at my Blackwood Studio. My Classes will soon return to The Glass Emporium and my Tuesday classes will relocate to Thebarton in a few weeks. I have limited the number of students to 6 so most sessions are now full except for The Wednesday evening and Tuesday morning class.
