25.01.2022 You know the alert levels of Advice, Watch and Act, and Emergency Warning. The way these are displayed on our website and Fires Near Me NSW smartphone app is c...hanging. Soon you’ll see these new icons. It’s part of the new Australian Warning System, to help you receive consistent information in emergencies no matter where you live, work or travel. While the icons may look different, what they mean doesn't change - you should check for information about what to do to protect you and your family. Keep an eye out for the new icons later this week. Check https://www.rfs.nsw.gov.au//gen/australian-warnings-system for info.

22.01.2022 The Rural Fire Service has released some advisory information for landowners undertaking harvesting in the areas of Hay, Carrathool, Murrumbidgee, Griffith, Narrandera and Leeton, to check weather conditions before continuing to harvest. A reminder to all landowners to ensure machinery is operating correctly prior to use and to ensure there is no risk of fire.

21.01.2022 What a difference a year makes. On 29 October 2019 there was nearly 100 bush fires burning across the state, with some fires at Emergency Warning level. Twelve ...months to the day, weather conditions are very different, as is the level of fire activity. Remember fire conditions will return, so why not take the time now to discuss your plan with your family. See more

20.01.2022 Early this morning Moss Vale, along with Bundanoon Rural Fire Brigade and Exeter Rural Fire Brigade attended a single vehicle accident on the Hume highway, fortunately there were no injuries. A reminder as we get closer to the Christmas season to never drive while tired and if you're losing focus while driving to pull over and have a break.

15.01.2022 On this day last year NSW recorded 17 concurrent Emergency Warnings. Communities in the Blue Mountains, Clarence Valley, Richmond Valley, Walcha, Armidale, Namb...ucca, Kempsey, Tenterfield, and the Mid Coast were all being impacted by fire. At 6pm 94 fires were burning across the state. While the losses on that day were significant they could have been far worse were it not for the extraordinary efforts of firefighters and community members. See more

13.01.2022 This morning Moss Vale and Berrima Rural Fire Brigade attended a small area of grass alight beside the Hume Highway at Medway. Thank you to the passer-by who used their extinguisher to slow the spread prior to our arrival. Remember if you see an unattended fire to call 000

12.01.2022 At Fire and Rescue NSW, we are prepared for anything...except being chased by an angry cow. About 12:30pm on Sunday 29 November 2020, Firefighters from Richmon...d Fire Station were conducting hydrant inspections at the Richmond Lowlands when a stray cow was sighted on the roadway. The stray cow must’ve seen red and decided to chase a firefighter on the roadway, who had to mooove out of the way. It's the fastest we've seen this firefighter move in years! Luckily only his ego was bruised and he’s otherwise okay. He was able to compose himself to complete the hydrant inspection. The offender managed to get away. #preparedforanything

05.01.2022 It's National Rugby League Grand Final Day 2020! Penrith Panthers vs Melbourne Storm ... The Academy is located within the Penrith Local Government Area, so we are officially backing the mighty Panthers to win their third premiership tonight! In a nice gesture, the 2020 NRL winner's ring features a salute to all first responders who have worked hard throughout the whole year. We are hoping that our colleagues from the Victorian Emergency Management Training Centre in Melbourne aren't too disappointed at the Storm being runners-up this season.
