22.01.2022 Last week we found some chrysalis and placed them in our butterfly enclosure. Today 5 butterflies hatched. When the rain stops we will release them. In the meantime we have the opportunity to observe them up close. So exciting.



21.01.2022 Our farmers market has been very popular this week. The children have been identifying the Fruit and Vegetable signs and playfood. Identifying the numbers on the scales, phones, scales and cash registers. The children took turns at being customers and shop keeper.

18.01.2022 St Patricks Day eat the rainbow activity. Independently using utensils to make fruit salad cups.

16.01.2022 After reading the story The Wide mouthed frog, the children painted their own frogs. As you can see, the children selected the colour. We have some very colourful frogs.

15.01.2022 Our Space Zone was very popular last week.

14.01.2022 Acting out The Very Hungry Caterpillar today. The children assisted in setting up, using the book as a reference to place the fruit in order of the story. We added foam mats and stepping stones inbetween each piece of fruit. We finished with a covered tunnel,( our cocoon) which we placed butterfly wings in. To change into a butterfly. The children did the course over and over.

13.01.2022 Our post office area. The children were writing letters to each other, Santa and Easter bunny. Weighing parcels and recognizing that some parcels were heavier than others. Identifying letters on the keyboard and numbers on the phones and scales. Taking phone calls and looking up numbers in the phone book. They all took turns of the different roles. The favourite was talking on the phone.

07.01.2022 After the children catching butterflies recently, using nets. We have been looking at the butterfly life cycle. Reading stories and making butterfly and caterpillar crafts. Our butterfly puppet was a favourite.

05.01.2022 This week our story is The Smallest Turtle. Linking in with our under the sea zone. Giving the children an opportunity to retell the story in sequence using the props, feeling the different textures(shells, rocks, leaves, fabric)
