25.01.2022 Our new fleet is starting to arrive ready for the 2018/19 season.2 brand new bikes so far, more to come. First a lovely Honda CB500F, and an updated 2018 Vstrom. The strom hasnt gotten any prettier, but they are so comfortable and reliable, they are a Moto Adventure favorite. We have been taking a heap of bookings for next season, so it is a good time to get in and secure your ride.

23.01.2022 Moto Adventure is in hibernation as is the rest of Tassies tourism industry. We still have our fleet of 15 motorcycles ready to wake up next season. Meanwhile here is a lovely calming video, created by professional Australian photographer Steve Fraser. He made a slow motorcycle trip around Tasmania with his drone, and made this stunning video, click on the link below. Enjoy. Also a stunning photograph by Steve showing the wonderful road out of Queenstown. This is all sitting here quietly waiting for our motorcycle clients to return when the horrible virus thing is finally over. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iSLMdYhotUE

23.01.2022 Our local ABC has posted a similar image to Moto Adventure previous post. The road out of Queenstown on Tassies West Coast is a mind blower.

22.01.2022 I have heard a lot of visitors talking about 'the light' in Tasmania. As a 35 year resident it is sometimes easy to become blind to it. Last week the late afternoon cloudscape from our balcony reminded me of the beauty of the place.I thought I would share the pleasure I got from it.

22.01.2022 Summer 2018 has been the biggest ever for Moto Adventure Tasmania, leaving little time for Facebook posts. We have just received some very positive feedback from one of our NZ tour groups. They included some evocative photos I thought I would share. Thanks Guys. Here is the text of their message. "Hi Ian. I have been trying to find a spare moment since we returned from Tassie to drop you a line and thank you sincerely for everything you did to make the trip for Lawrence, Bria...n and myself recently such a success. We had a great time and pretty much everything went without a hitch (apart from the odd GPS error!). I already have some expressions of interest from others who think that I should organise another trip so dont be surprised if you see my name pop up again in the next year or two." Sorry about the GPS.

22.01.2022 Last day of winter. We Tasmanians are waking up and stretching ourselves after winter hibernation. We are getting ready for a lovely Tassie spring. I decided to shake off the cobwebs from myself and my old Brutale with an easy ride to peaceful South Arm, around 40ks. You end up just across the river from Hobart. Could be a world away from the hustle of the city.

22.01.2022 At last! Maybe! We can start to organise that Tassie Moto Adventure we have been looking forward to.

21.01.2022 I dont know if this is good news or not, but MCN magazine in UK has published an article this week (Sep 5 to 18 issue) about Tasmania. They are telling the world Tasmania has the "best motorcycle riding in the world". Moto Adventure also managed a mention as the go too rental agency in Tassie. We have published the video before, but maybe you might like to watch it again. Enjoy.

21.01.2022 Picked up one of Moto Adventure Tasmanias two brand new Triumph Tiger 800s on the weekend. A very pretty blue one. We needed to run in the tyres and brakes before our first client for it on Monday morning, so we had a quick trip up the mountain. Took the opportunity to make a nice portrait. The latest incarnation of this very popular bike has a much better windscreen than the old one. Also a very smart looking TFT dash featuring extra clear speedo, heated grips and traction control. I really enjoyed riding the bike as I am sure lots of our clients this year will.

20.01.2022 Our self guided tours always include a day riding to Strathgordon and back to Hobart. Strathgordon Lodge offer an overnight stay in the Wilderness. Worth considering.

20.01.2022 Something a bit different this week. We rented 3 Watercooled GSs and 2 Tiger 800s to a group from Sydney who also rented a Maclaren, a Lambo and a Merc Convertible for a quick loop of Tassie in great style. They made quite a show outside our depot. The cars are available for hire in Tassie. Not cheap, but hell when you have the best motorcycles...best cars and and get to drive the best roads its okay.

19.01.2022 You gotta be good to impress an Alaskan with your Wilderness. My friend Ed seemed pretty pleased when we rode a couple of GSs to Strathgordon yesterday. Travelling west of Maydena is like entering a new world. Amazing roads, wonderful forests, craggy little mountains and grand waterways. I met Ed on the Top of the World Highway that runs between Dawson City and Tok Alaska. Helen and I have been delighted to have Ed and Jaye visit us at the other end of the world.

18.01.2022 For those who think Tassie is only nice in February, have a look at the weather today, late April. It has been like this for the last three weeks. Sure it is a bit cooler than summer, but clear and calm. The view from Sandy Bay and the Waterfront this morning.

18.01.2022 Maydena Mountain Cabins is usually the second last night of our Self guided Tour itinerary . It is not always quite so cold, but is a wonderful night on the edge of the Wilderness. The Alpacas are so gentle and beautiful, mountains and forest all around, this is a very special destination. Stevan and Jo look after our motorcyclists as though they are old friends.

17.01.2022 Maybe THIS time. Moto Adventure Tasmania is taking zero deposit bookings at the moment, so clients will not be out of pocket if things change at the last minute. Click through to our website to check current availability.

16.01.2022 More than just motorcycles. We also rent bicycles and electric bikes from our Hobart Waterfront Depot. Hobarts winter weather is sublime today so this group of students decided go for a ride from our colorful waterfront along our intercity cycle-way.

15.01.2022 Im not saying dont ride your motorcycle in Tassie, just saying, come prepared for anything. These two pics are the view from our balcony three days apart Thursday and Saturday. :)

15.01.2022 First customer for spring 2019, Jabbar, set off this morning for 5 days exploring Tasmania on a Tiger 800. The weather is sublime. He is off to Bruny Island this evening, hoping to get a glimpse of the Aurora, which was showing last week.

14.01.2022 Picked up one of Moto Adventure Tasmania's two brand new Triumph Tiger 800's on the weekend. A very pretty blue one. We needed to run in the tyres and brakes before our first client for it on Monday morning, so we had a quick trip up the mountain. Took the opportunity to make a nice portrait. 13.01.2022 End of season, and time for fleet renewal, but first we must sell off some of the old bikes. I have just put the first of our 2016 R1200GSs on Gumtree. We have two of the lovely red ones up for sale. Yesterday I rode one of those beauties to Bruny Island. It is such a good bike seems a shame to be selling it, but the GSs are so popular they rack up the ks very quickly. They both have around 55k on the clock, good for another 100 I reckon. Have a look on Gumtree, give me a call if you would like to hear more. Pictures include some of the bike I rode to Bruny.

13.01.2022 We have sold both of our 2016 1200GSs. The first headed off to the mainland today, ridden by happy purchaser Kim Nichols. After a quick rundown on the myriad of buttons on the handle bar Kim was off for Devonport to catch tonights ferry. I escorted him out of town on our now oldest 2017 GS. The identical twin of Kims bike has also be sold, due to be picked up on Monday. Kim was a little lighly dressed, but lucky for him, the weather in Hobart has been unbelievably mild this winter, today was glorious.

13.01.2022 Gary McLean from Hobart BMW handed me the keys to the new BMW R1200GS Ralley today. Take it for a ride, Gary says, it is a beautiful day, Gary says. I always believe motorcycle salesmen, so off I went. The other pictures are one hour later... At least I now know how the new bike handles in the rain :) PS sorry about the silly emojis, dont know how to delete them.

13.01.2022 We are shaking off the long winter sleep in Tasmania. Our first guest for the 17-18 season has just set off on a six day tour of Tasmania. Kelly all the way fro...m Canada chose the Suzuki Vstrom for its big screen, fat seat and heated handlebar grips. This morning when Kelly set off, the weather was cool, but clear and beautiful. I hope he has a great time. See more

10.01.2022 BMW Safari is happening in Tassie right now. If you ever wondered why we do not rent bikes for offload use, this is the answer. These guys are having a ball, but there are a few scratched GSs on the East Coast tonight.

10.01.2022 Our most popular bike is still the BMW GS, and it has been ever since we started 10 years ago. These bikes are out on Tassies roads almost continuously during the riding season, they do rack up the ks. We have an 18 month old 2016 1200 GS Wasserhead which has done 32000ks, so almost time for it to move over for a younger brother. I have this red beauty for sale on Gumtree for $20500. If any of our Facebook friends would like to snap up this immaculate machine, we will knock the $500 off for anyone who mentions they saw it on Facebook. The bike has all the electronic gizmos including tilting ABS, wire wheels, cruise control, ESA, 4 engine modes... everything except keyless ignition. Please feel free to share this with anyone you think might be interested.

09.01.2022 I have received a few lovely pictures from Daniel, who is having a long weekend in Hobart. Dan took our older Vstrom for the day today, wanted to find a waterfall, no problem, he found one on the road up to Mt Wellington. Thanks for the pics Daniel.

09.01.2022 Tassie tourism operators including Moto Adventure would be delighted to be overrun by Kiwis this summer.

09.01.2022 We try to give our clients the best possible experience when riding Tasmania, so like to keep the fleet up to date. We have 5 BRAND NEW bikes coming for next season. Also we have a couple of like for like updates of high ks older bikes. A low ks, R1200R to replace the lovely black one we had owned since 2013, and a low ks version of our Suzuki Bandit 1250 S (Exactly the same colour and model). These are both Sport Tourers with a lowish seat, big motor, and excellent cornerin...g. They come with hard panniers and top box. NEW bikes coming at the end of September. 3 BMWs and 2 Triumph Tiger 800s See more

09.01.2022 I have heard a lot of visitors talking about the light in Tasmania. As a 35 year resident it is sometimes easy to become blind to it. Last week the late afternoon cloudscape from our balcony reminded me of the beauty of the place.I thought I would share the pleasure I got from it.

08.01.2022 A challenging ride into the Wilderness, Pedder Wilderness Lodge is a wonderful overnight destination. It is the ONLY destination in that part of the world.

06.01.2022 Dark Mofo has bought thousands to Hobart for the spectacular mid winter Art Music and Food celebration of the dark and cold. The weather has actually been very mild, we almost havent needed the puffer jackets and beanies! Thanks to David Walsh and his team for bringing the place alive at the traditionally quiet time. The ABC report has more great photos than I could come up with.

06.01.2022 Gotta love Tasmania. Here is Mt Wellington this morning. We had the driest and warmest October on record, but November has started with a blast of cold air. Hopefully it will warm up again quickly for those of you heading south this month. We have record motorcycle tour bookings this November.

06.01.2022 This is the article from this weeks MCN

05.01.2022 They say a personal recommendation is the very best publicity. So when recent clients, Franck and Isabella published this post I thought I would share it. Thank you so much for the kind words.

05.01.2022 This is not a painting from a sci-fi fantasy; it is a photo by Jan Hannasky of Binnalong Bay on Tassies East Coast. We always include a visit to this beautiful place when we plan motorcycle trips for our clients.

03.01.2022 The new bikes start flowing in for 2017-18 season We just took delivery of a beautiful new 2017 BMW R1200GS. I took this bike for his maiden cruise along the magnificent Gordon Dam Road West of Maydena. He might as well begin life as he is to live it :}... Our newest Wasserboxer sports all the bells and whistles. Tilting ABS and Traction Control Self levelling ESA, 6 way adjustable (Electronic Suspension Adjustment) Keyless ignition 4 Engine Modes Cruise Control BMW GPS Wire Wheels BMW panniers 51litre Top Box We have 3 Watercooled GSs and one immaculate 2012 Oilhead. All loaded up with features. As always, the newest bike will be available to the person making the bookings for a group or the first to complete a booking for a given date.

03.01.2022 End of the season so time for some of the more senior members of our fleet to find new homes. Mind you the only actual oldie around here is me. The bikes only get to be a few years old. They do manage quite a few kilometers in those few years, so we replace them at a young age ensuring our fleet is always fresh. Those of you who have rented from us will know how good these bikes are. We are selling a 2015 R1200GS LC with 48k on the clock, and our beautiful 2013 R1200R with 6...2k. Both bikes have been cleaned thoroughly after every ride and serviced by the dealer. See the ads on Gumtree. Coming soon 2015 Triumph Tiger 800 XRX and 2015 Suzuki Vstrom. Please feel free to share this post with your friends. Cheers, Ian See more

Fully equipped with Engine Bars, Centrestand, ABS, Traction control, Triumph Panniers, a top box and even a Garmin GPS in a locking cradle. Just rock up with your helmet, hop on and hit the winding roads of Tasmania See more

02.01.2022 Only in Tasmania; apples washed up on a beach on South Bruny Island. The storm in Hobart and the south of Tasmania last week did a lot of unexpected damage including stripping the famous apple orchards in the Huon Valley. Fortunately Moto Adventure Depot was spared from the flooding around the Waterfront. The sun came out last weekend and the weather has been cool but okay since. I was exploring beautiful Bruny Island today on one of our wonderful BMW GS1200s. I found some excellent accommodation suppliers on this quiet corner of Tassie.

01.01.2022 Great news for all Kiwi riders. Tassie and NZ seem to be ahead of the rest with Virus eradication. With a bit of luck you will soon be able to ride Tasmania again. You will likely have the brilliant Tassie roads pretty much to yourself as our borders are closed to other Aussie States. Check out our website to begin organising a springtime motorcycle adventure.
