25.01.2022 On the 14th of June i was contacted by a friend to see if I could take on a very young lorikeet. On the 14th of September that same little lorikeet went to his forever home..........with my parents Welcome to the family Ollie. I’ve loved spending the past 3 months raising this angel and I’m so excited he is staying in the family. He is settling in well and I can’t wait to see him again at Christmas. ... The two large photos shows his first day in care and his last xxx

23.01.2022 Meet Little Turtle Greg! (affectionately named after my Dad given its Father’s Day) Greg was found in a strange location for a baby turtle. He was quite flat, dehydrated and cold. His rescuer got him to the wonderful team at VetWest Rockingham who helped warm and rehydrate him. It’s suspected that Greg was maybe picked up by a bird and that is how he came to be so far from a water source. I will check him over throughly and return him back to the wild as soon as possible. ... He is just a hatchling and so tiny.

19.01.2022 Something to think about!

17.01.2022 This cutie pie was brought into the clinic I work at today. The rescuer found the frog in his garage and had concerns it might be a Cane Toad. I assured him it was a gorgeous Banjo Frog. I cleaned him up, found out one of the nurses has a frog phobia and released him to a nearby water source on my way home. ... I just love frogs

16.01.2022 My little Dill & Pickle are self feeding! It’s amazing how quickly they learn being paired up. It’s also a relief that I don’t need to bring them everywhere I go. Now the real work starts in spending lots of time with them so they stay nice and friendly. ... They are so precious

14.01.2022 Turtle Greg has returned to the wild!!! He was very active during the night and like to hide within the enclosure. There was no obvious injuries and he was nice and bright. I released him this morning on my way to work and he was very happy to be home. ... Please keep an eye out for turtles on the roads. Give them a quick look over checking for shell damage, dehydration and any other obvious injuries. If they are bright without obvious injury, you can relocate them to the closest body of water. If you are concerned, you can get them assessed by a wildlife rehabilitator, wildlife hospital or vet to be sure. Good luck Turtle Greg!

14.01.2022 I have 2 baby birds on their way to me. I haven’t seen a photo or know what they are. My guess is baby doves. What’s your guess? P.S I’m still just taking reptiles but it’s hard to say no at 8.30pm on a Friday night. I will maybe pass them on but help out in the meantime.... *** UPDATE *** I was right! Two baby Doves

14.01.2022 So it appears i will be fostering a bonded pair of rabbits after seeing this heart breaking post earlier today. My love of animals knows no bounds. Are you in a position to help?

11.01.2022 Such an important message! Please share to get this great information out there!!!

08.01.2022 Step 3. Watch as the baby tries to feed from the older one. Hopefully they be quiet soon and get some sleep

08.01.2022 I think I was a little tired when I labeled the new packet of nectar

08.01.2022 The reptile rehabilitator is back at it again with another avian patient This lorikeet was brought into the clinic today. I looked at his beak noticing he was a juvenile and thought, he is young enough to be tamed, raised and thrive in a captive environment. I went to give him some fluids and noticed he had a fractured beak. I consulted one of my beautiful friends who after looking at some photos and gave me some advice (I’m very thankful to said beautiful friend) ... With some pain relief on board, I steri striped the beak in place and with careful assist feeds and ongoing pain relief.....I’m hoping he will make a full recovery. Not out of the woods yet but I’m happy he is comfortable. Not many people have time for lorikeets due to their status in WA. I will always help where I can and will always follow the law in not releasing them. I have respect for the rules in place but more importantly I have respect for them as living creatures.

06.01.2022 Step 2. Clean their carrier

05.01.2022 My Saturday Night Step 1. Feed the little monsters

03.01.2022 Slightly strange request but I’m looking for some winged infusion sets. They are used in blood collection and there is a section that attaches to the syringe that is super useful for tubing small birds. I’ve been using them to medicate and feed my lorikeet with an injured beak. Over time they need to be replaced and I’ve lost a few down the sink. ... It’s not something commonly in first aid kits but if you work in the medical industry or know someone that does, please keep an eye out for expired stock. Thanks!!!!

03.01.2022 Baby Bird decided that 9pm was the perfect time to test out his big boy voice. I can’t believe how big he is and how fast 2 months have gone!

02.01.2022 Hey Everyone I'm still here i promise! I currently have 5 bobtails in care and 2 lorikeets that have been keeping me busy. As it’s now officially Spring, I’ve been preparing for busy season......not only at home but also the 2 clinics i work at. This time of year is very busy for wildlife rehabilitators and reptile relocators. Preparation and education is key. ... I will be trying to post more and your feedback is very important to me. I’d love everyone to comment below on suggested topics you would like me to post about. Emma xxx

02.01.2022 I brought a bottle warmer tonight It’s warms to a perfect 37 degrees. It will help make sure the food and fluids I’m tubing to my patients aren’t too cold to upset their stomachs or too hot to cause internal burns. For the past 5+ years I’ve used a travel cup and my finger.
