21.01.2022 Today we farewelled Deputy Commissioner Bruce McDonald, who has retired after a stellar career with the NSW RFS. Bruce’s involvement with the Service began as a... volunteer in the early 1980s with the Beacon Hill Brigade on Sydney’s Northern Beaches. Bruce held a number of roles in the Brigade including, Deputy Captain, Senior Deputy Captain and Captain before being promoted to Group Officer in 1991. Bruce worked as a motor mechanic before being appointed in 1999 to the role of Inspector in the Warringah/Pittwater District. He moved to RFS headquarters starting as the State Operations Officer and occupying a range of roles over the past 20 years including Manager Communications Systems, Director Infrastructure Services, Executive Director and Deputy Commissioner. Bruce has dedicated his life to the Service and has many fond memories of his time with the NSW RFS. We wish him a long and enjoyable retirement with plenty of sleep-ins and time to walk his beloved dogs.
