20.01.2022 We will be doing the monthly plant trade run to Sydney next Tuesday/ Wednesday. If there are any special plant varieties, citrus, stone fruit, roses etc. youd like us to keep an eye out for, let us know.

18.01.2022 We should be back at the markets next weekend. Its been a crazy couple of months defending against fires and with all the moving plants around to more defendable locations, back again, repeat..., I managed to upset my lower spine. I would desperately have loved to be at the markets over the past two weekends to get back to some normality, but with my back still going into spasm it would have put me out for longer for sure. 14.01.2022 Chinese Tallow Tree Sapium sebiferum 200mm pot/$24 A fast growing, small deciduous tree (7m H x 5m W) with superb Autumn colour. The green heart shaped leaves change in Autumn, to a brilliant array of yellow, crimson and orange. ... Tallow Tree makes and excellent street/park/garden specimen and tolerates a wide range of soil conditions, including wet feet. 14.01.2022 Silky Oak Grevillea robusta 250mm pot -$35 (180cm plus tall) The Silky Oak is one of the most popular native ornamental/shade trees in Australia due to its ability to adapt. Its size can vary a great deal, from 10-30m H x 5-20m W. It has dark green lobed foliage with a silver under side, dark grey bark and stunning golden flowers. ... Silky oak is great for erosion control, as a screen or windbreak, as a large feature, street or paddock tree. They will tolerate most soil types and are coast, drought and moderately frost tolerant once established and will grow in full sun or part shade. 13.01.2022 Farley Plapp of ACT has very kindly donated some daffodil and gladioli bulbs (quite a few varieties!). These are free to anyone that lost their gardens to the bush fires ... Sure to add some very happy colour to your sanctuary (and life). Please pass on the details to anyone affected. We also still have plenty of strawberry plants to donate and are in the process of setting up a growing space for free plants that will be propogated/grown for fire affected residents to pick from.

Is a fast growing conifer with beautiful soft silver-blue-green foliage and a narrow upright growth habit that does not need pruning. Growing 6-10m H x 1m W, this species prefers full sun or part shade and well drained soil. It is very frost resistant and moderately drought, salt and wind tolerant. 04.01.2022 We have been donated a very generous number of Red Gauntlet strawberry runners for our Rebuilding the South Coast campaign. Thankyou so much Margot Fitchett! you are a gem I will get the bulk of these potted up and set aside for those of you that lost your gardens during the bushfires, to draw on as you get those vegie patches going again. Before I pot them (probably Thursday) if there is anyone... who lost their gardens and wants runners now to throw straight in, let me know. This is an heirloom variety with high yields, good frost tolerance and amazing flavour. Also, if you didnt lose your gardens, but would like to support the cause by making a donation to receive some runners (with the funds going straight back to supplying plants to those that need them most) also get in touch.

01.01.2022 Yellow Twig Dogwood Cornus sericea 'Flaviramea' $28/250mm pot This medium deciduous shrub (1.5m H x 2m W) will add a splash of colour to any backyard, particularly during Winter. ... Great as a specimen shrub, mass planting or in a pot. The stems are at their brightest in Winter, particularly if they are grown in full sun. The Autumn foliage is also beautiful, turning from Orange to Red. These plants are quite adaptable, being frost and drought hardy, but also growing well in wet locations eg. along streams and ponds, where spreading roots help combat soil erosion.
