23.01.2022 Not good news. An outbreak of bird flu in south-west Victoria is growing. Chickens at a free range egg farm near Lethbridge tested positive last week. A containment zone was set up and thousands of chickens were sadly culled. ... Now chickens at a second free range egg farm in the region are sick with it too. Avian influenza rarely impacts humans but a large outbreak has the potential to shut down the region's egg production. And that would mean colossal losses for farmers at an already tough time. The State Government has ordered that all free range chickens in the region be kept inside for at least the next 30 days to try to control the virus spread. More info on the containment zone around Golden Plains Shire here: https://agriculture.vic.gov.au//p/avian-influenza-bird-flu
