25.01.2022 Hurry Folks only 4 tickets left!! Phone 0400 467 317 Mountain MOJO is thrilled to present B E N * S A L T E R THIS saturday November 14 The Black Stump ( Gowrie Park - Home to Mount Roland Folk Festival) Three course dinner & show, Bookings only and only 20 tickets left!! Be Quick folks - Phone Dom 0400 467 317... I firmly believe Ben Salter to be one of Australia’s best singers, and if I weren’t so goddamn competitive, one of its best songwriters as well. Tim Rogers (You Am I, The Temperance Union) Ben Salter is one of Australia’s most highly regarded performers and songwriters. As well as being a founding member of Giants of Science, The Gin Club and the three-time ARIA-nominated Wilson Pickers, he is an accomplished artist in his own right. His debut solo album The Cat (2011) and follow up The Stars My Destination (2015) have established his penchant for eclectic, esoteric arrangements and sounds that take in elements of rock, pop, jazz, folk, country and beyond, whilst all maintaining a coherence and inimitable melodic style. Salter has collaborated, written and performed with artists as diverse as Mick Thomas (Weddings, Parties, Anything), Tim Rogers (You Am I, The Temperance Union), Bernard Fanning (Powderfinger), Gareth Liddiard (The Drones) and Marlon Williams, to name a few. He has toured with acts such as Cat Power, J Mascis, Gareth Liddiard, Counting Crows, Marlon Williams and most recently Built To Spill. See more

25.01.2022 Hello there Folks! It's been a while! Shall we organise another night out? Dinner and a show? With some absolutely incredible musicians? Give me a call, love to hear from you :-) 0400467317 Would you please give us a helping hand by sharing this post? Thank You Folks Friday 30 April Ruth Hazleton with Fiona Steele & Luke Plumb... The old Black Stump (Gowrie Park) Dinner & Show $55 - Bookings only Phone Dom 0400467317 One of Australia’s most highly regarded folk singers, Ruth Hazleton is a multi-award-winning instrumentalist, singer and songwriter. In a career spanning over twenty-five years, she has recorded and toured nationally and internationally with numerous acts including long term musical partner Kate Burke and Dev’lish Mary. Ruth has also been privileged to work with some of the world’s most iconic folk & roots musicians including Andy Irvine (IRE Planxty), Nancy Kerr & The Sweet Visitor Band (UK 2015 BBC Folk Singer of the Year), James Keelaghan (Canada) & Bruce Molsky (USA). Equipped with an electric guitar tuned to DADGAD and an open-back 5-string banjo, Ruth began her solo journey in 2019, releasing Daisywheel, produced by acclaimed Tasmanian musician and composer Luke Plumb (Shooglenifty). The album was recently nominated for ‘Best Folk Album 2020’ at the Music Victoria Awards and has been described as "...compelling and intimately fierce" (Living Tradition - UK). Daisywheel is a lyrical voyage of history, struggle & resilience in song; a confluence of ancient and contemporary and a cross-cultural zeitgeist. At times unapologetically political, the repertoire incorporates the many influences that have shaped Ruth’s musicianship over the years, escaping strict boundaries of genre. There are flavours of Celtic trad, old-time American music, Eastern European & Middle Eastern music. Intrinsic to her musical identity, Ruth also works as a rogue folklorist and oral historian and is a committed activist and advocate for independent music and folk culture in Australia. She is joined on stage in Tasmania by guitarist Fiona Steel (GraceJean) and Luke Plumb on mandolin and bouzouki. [a] peerless command of traditional musicpushed outwards into beautiful new territory. ~ Jeff Lang

21.01.2022 Mountain MOJO at The Black Stump Saturday 8 Aug. Double Bill - Luke Plumb - Yyan and Emily Dinner & Show, Bookings Only Ph. Dom 0400 467 317 TICKETS selling QUICKLY only 15 left. Phone now!... LUKE PLUMB Luke Plumb has established a reputation as a driving force in acoustic music on the global stage. With eleven albums and numerous other guest appearances under his belt, Luke has cemented his standing in the world of mandolin players. But he is equally at home playing melody on the banjo or accompanying on the bouzouki and guitar. His skills as a session musician have seen Luke playing with musicians from many genres around the world! YYAN and EMILYs music has been described as and intricate, complex but warm-hug kind of experience. They combine alternatively tuned guitars, violins and violas with ethereal vocals to create shimmering, visual worlds both Tasmanian and interstellar. Cinematic music from a folk duo. Yyan and Emilys three-year collaboration has been rich and fruitful. They have written an album of music, developed a unique approach to harmony and performed to audiences all over Tasmania in the depth of caves and atop mountain summits at sunrise. They released their debut album River Islands in online listening party form during COVID-19 in April which reached over 3000 people worldwide, encouraging the increasingly forgotten art of deep listening. Their composition Brown Mountain won the Folk Federation of Tasmania tune award in 2019. Yyan and Emily were the recipients of an Arts Tasmania residency grant in 2020, spending a month at Dreamfarm Eco-Arts Retreat completing their debut album and beginning writing for the next one. Their music is written deeply collaboratively and slowly, creating songs and tunes that are filled with loving detail underpinning a direct emotive message. 10.01.2022 Yyan and Emily Pozible campaign & Listening party: Monday, April 20, 2020 at 7 PM 9PM https://www.facebook.com/events/625115151671232/ Yyan and Emily are outstanding musicians making incredibly beautiful music. I had the pleasure of booking them to perform at Mountain Mumma a while back and I can attest that their music is stunning. They would not be out of place at any music festival in the world. (Yyan and Emily were a big hit at last years inaugural Mount Roland Folk ...Festival. Did you see them?) They had planned an album launch tour in late April in Victoria and Tasmania, but given recent events, have switched to an online launch. Please support their campaign by pre-ordering a hard-copy album (as I am about to do) or another reward, this will help them cover costs of recording, mixing, mastering and printing the album. Ill see you at the Listening Party next Monday :-)

10.01.2022 Mountain Mumma's next music show will feature not one but THREE Brilliant acts! Get your tickets quickly for this one! Saturday January 30 Lucie Thorne - Ben S...alter- Van Walker Dinner & show $55 Bookings Only - Phone 0400 467 317 Ben Salter is one of Australia’s most highly regarded performers and songwriters. As well as being a founding member of Giants of Science, The Gin Club and the two time ARIA nominated Wilson Pickers, he is an accomplished artist in his own right. His debut solo album The Cat established his penchant for the melodic mixed with the esoteric, whilst follow up EP European Vacation was a diverse collection of collaborations that Salter undertook whilst on a five month overseas writing mission. He has collaborated, written and performed with artists as diverse as Mick Thomas (Weddings, Parties, Anything), Tim Rogers (You Am I, The Temperance Union), Bernard Fanning (Powderfinger) and the aforementioned Gareth Liddiard (The Drones), to name a few. Van Walker - Born & raised on the windswept prairies of north-west coast Tasmania, between lashings of hallucinogenic cheese & Magic Johnson, weened on William Blake & Ribald magazine, Van first heard the music of Bob Dylan around adolescence & began picking guitar & writing songs. Some hundreds of songs later and a hell-bent pick, he moved to Melbourne to form the rocknroll outfit The Swedish Magazines, and sing his unique hillbilly stuff on the side. The first collection of these beguilingly simple songs came out in 2008 entitled The Celestial Railroad, & in 2009 three separate sessions were released, The Last Record Store (Jan) Greetings from Penguin Tasmania (Aug) & Love Fate (Oct). Drawing on the grand storytelling tradition of artists such as Ray Davies, Townes Van Zandt, Leon Payne & John Prine, & the acoustic finger-styles of John Fahey & Mississippi John Hurt, Van created a sound both old & new, with a laconic familiarity that speaks to the heart with an intimacy more effortless than contrived. Lucie Thorne - Lauded for writing some of the most simple and beautiful songs you will hear (****The Age), Lucie Thorne has earned her place as one of Australia’s most striking contemporary songsmiths. With eleven releases to her name including her latest LP Everything Sings Tonight and a prodigious touring schedule, Lucie Thorne continues to carve out an extraordinary creative career.
