25.01.2022 Hey Club Secretary's an email came out asking for expressions of interest in hosting the MPS Summer Championships last week. If you didn't get the email please email Jo at [email protected] so we can make sure that we have the correct email address for your club.

23.01.2022 Dear Clubs, if you haven’t already done so please get onto this grant, it needs to be done before Monday only takes 2 minutes and is worth $1000...... worth applying for.. https://surveys.sport.nsw.gov.au/anon/1544.aspx

22.01.2022 Dear All, over the weekend we lost one of our best and brightest talents to come out of MPS. Claudia Neale swam for Glenbrook and MPS for many many years and a lot of you would remember her brother Dan and sister Gabby. No doubt a lot of our swimmers have experienced the kind and compassionate manner in which her Dad Matt officiated at local, country and state meets and many parents would have spent time in the stands and timekeeping with her mum Fiona. A memorial has been arranged for Tuesday at 5.20pm and if you would like to take part please grab a helium balloon and release it at this time, from your driveway, your local park or pool anywhere you like. We would love to see your photos as we gather to celebrate Claudia’s life and support her family, friends and team mates.

21.01.2022 Good afternoon coaches, I’m sorry to be the bearer of bad news but with the current COVID-19 restrictions combined with the uncertainty of what may or may not happen we have had to make the difficult decision to cancel our scheduled NSW Squad activities for the month of January 2021. SNSW Flippers & Performance Squad Camp SOPAC from Monday 11th Thursday 14th January SNSW Regional Boys Squad Camp Knox Grammar from Tuesday 12th Thursday 14th January SNSW Regional Girls Squad Camp Canberra from Mon 18th Wednesday 20th January An email will be sent out to the athletes this afternoon by Timthis wasn’t an easy decision but in the interests of all participants it was the only one we could have made I look forward to seeing you all soon on pool deckplease be safe and I hope you all have the best New Year possible Regards, Jon

20.01.2022 Congrats to all the MPS coaches and team managers down at state age some amazing results and achievements

19.01.2022 Hello All, hope you are staying safe and looking after yourselves in these times. This has been a pretty difficult time for all our members and families and I hope that our swimmers have been able to keep running, strength training and keeping up socially (online) with their squad mates. Tonight I had a zoom meeting with all the area presidents and swimming nsw. While everyone is happy that exemptions have been granted for casual and squad swimming there is not a lot of cert...ainty regarding the competition side of the sport. The swimming nsw board have a meeting next week and we can expect to get an update after that. No one is expecting any changes within the next 3-4 weeks although there is a lot of lobbying going on directly to the department of health. Swimming NSW are launching an online store for their merchandise, more info coming about that in the next week or so. Also please let me know if you had swimmers who were going to be attending national age/open/mc this past season, kind regards Jo Keown (area president)

19.01.2022 A massive performance from Harry Bolton on Day 3 of the Senior State Age Champs. Not only did he reach his first state final with a 5 second PB in the heats, he placed 6th in the final from a ranking of 9th!! A huge achievement, well done Harry!!

19.01.2022 Dear All, just a reminder that clubs are having to limit their entry numbers at the moment and I would urge all members to only enter a carnival if you are actually going to attend. Entering and then not attending means that other swimmers have missed out. Please be thoughtful and think of others..

09.01.2022 Penrith to host National Open Water Swimming Championship Swimming Australia is pleased to announce that the 2021 Australian Open Water Swimming Championship wi...ll return to the Sydney International Regatta Centre in Penrith for the first time in 10 years, taking place from 29-31 January. The national competition will form a critical part of the men’s selection process for a spot in the 10km event at the Tokyo Olympic Games, which will be contested at the Olympic qualification event in Fukuoka. The women’s open water spot on the Tokyo Olympic team has already been secured by Kareena Lee, who grabbed a top 10 finish at the FINA World Swimming Championships last year. Bragging rights will be on offer in the women’s race as the field looks to knock Lee off the top spot as national champion and claim the spoils. While selection for the World Junior Championship team to compete in the Seychelles will be up for grabs, for both the girls and boys, in the 16-17 years 7.5km and the 18-19 years 10km respectively. Open Water Performance Manager Greg Shaw said Penrith will provide a great racing opportunity for all athletes competing. Penrith provides a fast, flat course very similar to Tokyo, which will be held in a protected bay with minimal current and waves, he said. The environmental conditions in Penrith at the end of January will also allow our swimmers to experience competitive racing in warm water and hot conditions, not unlike what our Olympians will face in Tokyo next August. Shaw said Penrith was also a fantastic venue for spectators to be able to view the country’s top open water athletes perform. The course has a path the whole way around it so fans will get the opportunity to follow the entire race should they choose, he said. Given it is a critical race for the men in our Olympic selection process it is sure to be one not to miss and we thank the Penrith City Council and the Mayor for hosting us. Penrith Mayor Ross Fowler OAM said the region was eagerly anticipating the return of the Australian Open Water Swimming Championships. We are delighted to be welcoming back open water swimming at the highest level. The Sydney Regatta Centre remains one of the best open-air swimming courses in Australia for athletes and spectators alike, and perfectly showcases the active, outdoor lifestyle that Penrith offers, he said. Entries for the 2021 Australian Open Water Swimming Championships will open in December.

08.01.2022 Well done swimmers and well done parents.. great day out at a great carnival. Well done to the Glenbrook committee for hosting a successful day..
