Its’s good we can talk about it. - Have you been feeling this way for a while. - That’s tough. Keep talking, I’m listening. Visit https://www.ruok.org.au for more information.

20.01.2022 Mountie Throwback - Geoff "Joffa" Young Brought to you by Mat's Cellarbrations Ballarat - Mt Clear, Alfredton & Wendouree Intro: when did you play? Which grade and what was your role?... I started at age 9, 1992 in the u/12's and then played every grade from u/12 to A grade I rarely got a bowl so I guess I ended up as a batsman... Q1 Highlight of your time at Mountie? I guess it was winning the A grade GF in 2008 I think it was.. But also highlights for me was 'chase the ace', nights at the rooms and then to the Red.. Training, I loved it, you'd get a bat and a bowl with your mates and a beer after, all in an hour and a half... Gold! Q2 Best sledge you have heard from opposition/team mate? I can't remember to much of that stuff Q3 Worst game situation you have been in? The last over at Eastern Oval GF 2008, Napoleons needed 3 or something... I felt sick and I'm sure that took 10 years off me.... Q4 Best win your were involved in? The 2008 2 run win A grade GF.. No one gets 200 after tea!! Q5 If there was DRS in your day, how many more 100s/5 fors would you have made/taken? I was generally Bowled or caught.... Hard to argue that! Q6 Baggy, floppy or terry towelling? Definitely Baggy! Q7 What is the biggest six you saw/hit? For me I put one on to Saxon house at City Oval at some point.. And the biggest one I saw was Steve Nicho getting put over the top of the light tower at cow corner at Uni... Massive!! Q8 - Worst drop catch off your bowling or seen? Who remembers the dropped ones Q9 Best Mountie to have a drink with after a game? Things got loose when Nathan Donegan, Andrew Nicholson were around ... But you can't put it down to 1, we had a good drinking crew! Q10 Duck in victory or century in defeat? I think I made a 140 in the 2nd's at St pats and we lost I've wiped the ducks from my memory Q11 Best captain you played under? Darren Q12 Least favourite ground to play on? Russell square.. East High.. Q13 - best/funniest Mountie memory. No doubt the Colonel would of been involved!! Trying to catch a ball on his foot and smacking him on his shin springs to mind... And Sponga smudging his way off the ground, trying to get to the public toilets at the western oval before he totally shat his pants!!! The vision of him trying to sprint with clenched butt cheeks was priceless!! Q14 - Where are you now and what are you doing? I live in Ocean Grove, live a life of surfing and beach life, I work at the Lonsdale Golf Club as the Assistant Superintendent..

20.01.2022 Today members of the Fast Bowling Cartel (FBC), Grant Trevenen and John Butler, met up in Torquay for an extra session ahead of the season resuming next week...... Watch that front foot Boof!

19.01.2022 Mountie Throwback - Shane Currie Brought to you by Little Square's Garage Intro. I played between the 99/00 season through to around the 09/10 season. I just played in the 4ths & 5ths mainly as an opener bat and part time spin bowler.... Q1. Highlight of your time at Mountie? Playing in the Grand final in my first season. Q2. Best sledge you have heard from opposition/team mate? I recall some young fella telling Pev not to break his hip in the field. Q3. Worst game situation you have been in? I recall getting cleaned up by a very strong Wendouree bowling attack in the 4s. Way to good and I finished the match with a broken toe. Q4. If there was DRS in your day, how many more 100s/5 fors would you have made/taken? I reckon I was robbed of a ton in a semi one year with a dodgy lbw that probably cost us the match and another Grand final appearance. Q5. Baggy, floppy or terry towelling? Baggy. Q6. What is the biggest six you saw/hit? I can recall a 6 being hit over the big fence on Mountie 2. Q7. Worst drop catch off your bowling or seen? Anything hit near my brother. Q8. Best Mountie to have a drink with after a game? Always enjoyed having a beer with Clete Diamond, Stu Black and Andy Bowers. Q9. Duck in victory or century in defeat? Both hurt but you play to win so I'd take the . Q10. Best captain you played under? Robbo. So nice to have someone in your side who makes all the runs and take the wickets. Q11. Least favourite ground to play on? I think Mt. Clear 1 at the end of the drought was about the worse condition ground I had to play on. Q12. Best/funniest Mountie memory. Chris Edgar probably had the best yarns during a night out. Q13. Where are you now and what are you doing? I moved down to Melbourne in 2008 and currently live in Moorabbin with my wife and 2 kids. I occasionally get a leave pass to fill in for the local club here but it's pretty hard now and do the right thing by the family. I've got my young bloke playing blaster cricket so hope to stay involved.

11.01.2022 Mountie Throwback - Dale Sidebottom | Brought to you by Approved Financial Lending Group. Q1 Highlight of your time at Mountie?... Playing off in the grand final. Would have been great to get the win, we had it in the bag after the first weekend and somehow lost. Still a great experience with a cracking group of lads. Q2 Best sledge you have heard from opposition/team mate? Geez that’s a hard one. When you carry on like a peanut like I used to there are so many. Jeffers and Fletch were always quite good behind the stumps on the yap. Q3 Worst game situation you have been in? In the grand final I dropped Paul Aikman off my bowling that was the easiest catch ever. He ended up going on to make a lot and help them win the game. I have never forgot that moment. Or when I got suspended for a month for talking back to the umpire. That was pretty embarrassing as well. Q4 Best win your were involved in? Hard one as we had a lot of good wins over the years I played. Easily won more then lost which were all very enjoyable. Q5 If there was DRS in your day, how many more 100s/5 fors would you have made/taken? Haha, definitely none. DRS wouldn’t of helped me at all. Q6 Baggy, floppy or terry towelling? Floppy for everything. Sun smart Q7 What is the biggest six you saw/hit? I reckon Kenno hit a few that sounded like a gun going off. Q8 - Worst drop catch off your bowling or seen? As mentioned above, my own dropped catch was so embarrassing. The ball was going that slow. Q9 Best Mountie to have a drink with after a game? The Big Bad Blakey Q10 Duck in victory or century in defeat? Duck in victory for sure. Q11 Best captain you played under? Jeffers. Fantastic leader. Q12 Least favourite ground to play on? The Ballarat school on the highway into town (the former East High turf wicket). The best was eastern oval. I loved that ground. Q13 - best/funniest Mountie memory. Playing screw your neighbour as a club. I absolutely loved this and have taught so many people this game. The best. And at end - what are you doing now? Eg living work etc. I own a business called Energetic Education where I travel around Australia and the globe running workshops for schools, corporates and sports clubs on ways to make movement and learning fun. Also run a podcast called Energetic Radio which I really love.

09.01.2022 Round 5 Results Three wins out of four for the Mountie seniors with some impressive performances across the grades. The Firsts got the job done posting a solid 248 before the spin trio of George, Nicholson and Fletcher halted the flow of runs to keep Naps to 233. Fletch was the star with 6/28. ... The Seconds looked to have the game on ice with Ballan on 9/152 chasing 215 before a last wicket partnership got them within 3 runs. A run out by Tim Landt ensured victory. The Thirds bowled well keeping East to a "gettable" total on an ever drying Mt Clear 2. Low scores from the top 6 heaped the pressure on the lower order before a 74 run partnership between Hassell and Carter offered some hope. This before a final collapse. And the Fourths delivered a drubbing with Yates and Holloway combining for scores of 155* and 97* to post a huge total of 326 for the loss of one wicket. The end result a 163 runs win. Bowling performance of the week - Darren Fletcher 6/28 Batting performance of the week - Nathan Yates 155*

09.01.2022 Round 4 Results | Brought to you by Plinius Engineering Three wins out of four in the seniors saw some hard work on the track pay off on the field. The Firsts and Seconds got home easy in the end whilst the Thirds had to work hard for their second win of the season. The Fourths just had an off day at the office. ... Whilst the half of the junior games were washed out by the inclement weather, the games going ahead saw solid performances from each Mountie outfit. Batting performance of the week goes to debutant Joel Moriarty with 69 in the Seconds win over Naps. Bowling performance of the week also goes to a Seconds player in Leigh Billington with the club's second "Five Fa" of the year, taking 5/37 from his eight overs. Go Mounties!

Plenty of my own caught and bowled that I didn't grasp. Q9 Best Mountie to have a drink with after a game? This is a political question and needs to be answered accordingly. Everyone I've ever played with over my time. Did have a great session with Fletch & Jeff in England though. Q10 Duck in victory or century in defeat? Duck in victory.
