23.01.2022 This beautiful home in Banjup WA was commissioned by a florist and an engineer. Sited near bushland on a broad expanse of the Swan River Basin, the design transplants the functional geometry of the European farm quadrangle to the new house while still enjoying its West Australian bush setting. The house comprises of strong forms hewn from the local limestone. Inside, the inhabitants will enjoy long sight lines and views framed around the 300+ year old paper bark trees. The interior spaces are set up to reflect the play of light and shadow and abstractions of the West Australian bush as the suns arc projects them across interior walls.

21.01.2022 [Paddington House] We love how the western light filters through the green canopy like a breath of fresh air at our Paddington St renovation.

19.01.2022 Rammed earth makes for the perfect bedroom backdrop in our recently completed Banjup project.

18.01.2022 [Moreing House] Our #Attadale project was completed a few years ago now but we are still in love with this eye-catching black accent wall. Stephen Nicholls

17.01.2022 Designed and built for an owner who wanted a small home that made the most of light and space on a small block, this steel and timber-framed project employed efficient design and construction techniques to provide open plan living over two levels. The upstairs bedroom, bathroom and study have deliberately been designed to take advantage of the views of the trees on the block while a downstairs bedroom and bathroom have been designed with the owners eventual ageing in mind. T...he high ceilinged living space opens directly to the north and uses cross ventilation, thermal massing and sun shading devices to achieve desired levels of thermal comfort. Now completed, the home is a distinctive addition to the streetscape and has been affectionately dubbed the boathouse by the locals in a response to its colour and material. The Sussex Street residence achieved the Architecture Award in the AIA WA Architecture Awards 2016 for Small Project Architecture, the project features in local and international press.

17.01.2022 [Moreing House] We love how the use of timber in different ways has added interest and an unique aesthetic to this open plan living and dining area at our #Attadale project.

16.01.2022 Autumn afternoon streams into the living room at Bartram Rd. Its not enough to just let the light in, its more about what it falls on that makes the difference...

16.01.2022 [Moreing House] Custom cabinetry sitting pretty in this formal lounge at our #Attadale project.

16.01.2022 The Success Crescent project uses an open gabled pitched roof with large walls of stone to delineate formal and informal living areas. This makes the space grand but on a domestic scale. The cantilevers in the pre-tensioned ridge beam create two generous eave overhangs that shade the fully glazed walls that serve the back and front porches. As well as giving the house a distinctive street front personality, this arrangement sets up an even balance of light in the home with ample views to the gardens and beyond.

15.01.2022 [Moreing House] Were savouring the last few hours of the weekend right here...

12.01.2022 The Moreing Road project started as series of conversations and sketches inspired by a home commissioned in the early 1950s by the actor Gary Cooper, and built in Hollywood Hills by the prolific LA architect Quincy Jones. The outcome is a design that accommodates and contains family life within three zones: formal, informal and alfresco. The three zones, represented respectively by the grand fire place, the cantilevered mezzanine and the outdoor courtyard, are strongly distin...guished from one another yet are connected to each other visually. This allows an already generous space to seem even more spacious and ensures the spaces are well used. The distinctive but visually connected spaces also supply the possibility for individual activities to be pursued without isolation from the main activity or other family members. The well finished nature of these spaces, the use of stained timber detailing inside and out, the stonework and deciduous plantings all contribute to a uniquely modern home that the owners feel has the essence of the timeless, mid-century design that inspired its creation. The Moreing Road residence was shortlisted in two categories of the Australian Institute of Architects WA Architecture Awards 2014 for Residential Architecture Houses and for the MondoLuce Lighting Award.

10.01.2022 [Moreing House] Tonight were taking a look back at our #Attadale project. Using timber in multiple ways added interest and an unusual aesthetic to this open plan living and dining area.

05.01.2022 [Moreing House] Forever one of our favourites.

04.01.2022 [Bartram House] The angles, colours, textures and natural light of our recently completed Bartram house are all brought together in this one shot.

04.01.2022 The striking geometry of the Cawston Road residence provides a foil for the leafy remnants and mature trees in the original and neighboring gardens. The distinctive two-story cube has a counterpoint in the strong horizontal lines of the living-dining-kitchen pavilion on its northern side. The linear sweeps of white render and the use of cedar for window frames breaks up and dilutes the severity of the dark brick. Commissioned by the owner as a home for a family of four, the s...paces are generous but not lavish. The design provides for privacy, individual activity and family interaction. Employing the concept of shelter around activity, a downstairs media and reading room and a second, modest living area at the top of the stairs retain a visual connection with the communal spaces. The family can open the living-dining-kitchen pavilion to the front terrace and back garden to allow the breezes to flow or withdraw to one of the sheltered spaces with a book or video game and still remain connected to each other and the activity of the household.

02.01.2022 The Paddington Street project involved the renovation of a 100 year old cottage in North Perth. Sited east west, the narrow home and small scale rooms needed light, space and access for a growing family. A long gallery was added to the west to widen the narrow space and connect all the living areas. The depth of the new wall maximises light whilst minimising heat gain and delivering display and storage space. The result filters western light through a green canopy of leaves. The effect is a constant changing of light levels and patterned shadows that fall over the old and new spaces. In the Residential Architecture Houses, Alterations and Additions category of the Australian Institute of Architects WA Architecture Awards 2013, the Paddington Street residence achieved a commendation.

01.01.2022 Looking forward to more and more days spent out here
