25.01.2022 This was forwarded as a possible way of opening the pool... What are everyones thoughts??? Hi ... I know you have been fighting hard to get the mt Helena pool open to the public, I just wanted to share with you some info about the Ravensthorpe pool that I attended visiting my sister a few years ago. Im not 100 % sure how it worked but I know every household was given the opportunity to buy a key for access over the summer season, I believe it was $50. That entitled familys/ or people free acess into the pool and area for free over the whole summer. I think the only catch was that one person in attendance had to attend a first aid group and have a first aid clearance . This may be of interest to you for the residents to get exclusive access to the pool over summer? It took out the need for life guards and ment that basically the person with the certificate was responsible for anyone else in the group they could take swimming that day. This may or may not be of Interest to you and your group but it seemed to work well down in Ravensthorpe. Good luck x

23.01.2022 The saga continues..... Just been contacted by someone who recently attended the Pool a few days ago with a family member for a swim. Because of the confusing hours they checked Mundaring Website first to ensure the pool was open. The Shire of Mundaring website only states.... `Mt Helena Aquatic Centre is currently open for the 2019/2020 season - closing on 31 March 2020.' ... She then phoned the Mundaring Shire, who phoned the pool, eventually came back and advised that the pool opened at midday 12pm . At 12pm she got ready, jumped in the car and upon arriving at the pool observed signage at the front gate confirming that the pool opened at 12pm..... Staff at the pool then advised that there was vacswim happening and the pool opens at 1:30pm. How are we supposed to support and use the Pool.?

22.01.2022 This Tuesday evening 12 November, 2019 our Mount Helena Swimming clubs future will be decided by the councillors at Mundaring Shire. This is an important step forward that will allow some of us to access the pool. It would be great to see some of the locals at the Shire Meeting this Tuesday to show support for the Swimming Club

21.01.2022 When i speak to the shire they claim they are not trying to close the pool at all ... BUT if they did want to, the way to do it would be to reduce the visitor numbers so it is not financially viable I believe this is in effect what is happening here... The varying and confusing short hours send people away

18.01.2022 Mount Helena Pool will be closing mid summer 19 February for the season. Shire of Mundaring have shortened the opening hours for this pool to a new height of ridiculousness. We need everyone that uses or cares about the future of this facility to comment, share this page, contact the shire, contact your local media etc.... If we do nothing we will lose this awesome facility.

08.01.2022 Mount Helena Pool is now CLOSED for the season. Mid summer, hottest month of the year and our Pool that locals fundraised to build and we pay rates for is CLOSED. With restrictive opening hours (often 3 hours per day only), the Shire can ensure that numbers at the Pool are minimal. The opening hours also vary daily making it confusing. If this doesnt change, I believe Shire of Mundaring will in the future suggest closing this pool for financial reasons.... Here is who you can ring and email to voice your thoughts. The Shire at: [email protected] Our local elected Councillors (who I have emailed myself several times and only one has bothered to reply... Thankyou Councillor Lynn Fisher) Cr Kate Driver [email protected] Ph: 0432 539 066 Cr Lynn Fisher (Deputy President) [email protected] Ph: 0439 420 781 Cr John Daw (Shire President) [email protected] Ph: 0437 997 325 Cr Toni Burbidge [email protected] Ph: 0409 101 647 Cr Stephen Fox [email protected] Ph: 0417 329 129

07.01.2022 have just been to Mundaring Shire website. The Centre will open for public use on Saturday 5 December 2020 and will close for public use on Sunday 14 February 2021. Again, we have reduced hours and opening late. Why are we receiving such reduced hours? Bilgoman Pool is open.

07.01.2022 Bilgoman Swimming Pool .OPEN Northam Swimming Pool ..OPEN Wooroloo Swimming Pool..OPEN Wundowie Swimming Pool...OPEN Swan Aquatic Pool ...OPEN... MOUNT HELENA SWIMMING POOL IS STILL CLOSED Ask your local mundaring shire why ? Why is our pool closed? The public increased the use of the pool by 34% last year. We need access to the pool so you cant close it

04.01.2022 Mount helena swimming club starts tonight

04.01.2022 Can anybody help with an Instagram Page.... we have established one for the Mount Helena Aquatic Centre, but need help with posting on there, sharing etc.....

04.01.2022 Just saw that Wundowie Swimming Pool is open for local residents to use... Wundowie Swimming Pool Opening Hours Weekdays 12 noon - 7pm Weekends & Public Holidays 12 noon - 7pm... How is this fair ?

03.01.2022 A great result... Mundaring Shire have finally allowed Mount Helena Pool to open for more of the Summer Season, allowing our residents to use this great facility. At last Tuesdays Shire meeting, the issue of our restricted hours was discussed with an agreement reached to extend the opening hours of the pool til the end of March 2020. Well done to the Shire Councillors who voted yes and to Joan Quinn for fighting so hard for the Pool.... The pool will still close at 6pm unfortunately, so not much help to anyone working down the hill, so a bit more work to be done here, but a fantastic outcome.

02.01.2022 Over the past three years the opening hours for the Mount Helena Pool have been reduced. The confusion over the varying hours plus the limited opening hours are turning people away from the pool. Anybody that works full time will struggle to use this facility with the pool closing at 6.00pm. The Shire cite lighting issues as being the reason, however the pool has been open til 7:00pm until recently for many years plus it is still light.... And now, to top it all off.... the Shire has decided to close the swimming pool midway through the hottest month of the year. The pool will be closing 17 February 2019. Comparison: Wundowie Swimming Pool is open 12pm to 7:00pm 7 days a week and will be open til April 2019. These were the opening hours for the Mount Helena Pool... Confusing to say the least: during the summer season: During school term - please note that entry is half price after school Monday - Friday from 3.30pm - 6pm Weekends & Public Holidays from 12 noon to 6pm During December/January school holidays: Monday - Friday from 12 noon to 6pm Monday - Friday during VacSwim from 1.30pm to 6pm (Vac swim starts at 8.30am) Weekends & Public Holidays from 12 noon to 6pm Please note that whilst school holiday VacSwim lessons are running the pool is closed to the public. Again... confusing.... A group of local residents have been working hard attempting to liaise with the Mundaring Shire to increase awareness and patronage of this facility. Numerous letters have been written to Shire Councillors (with only one genuine response received plus one acknowledgement.. we have received your letter etc.). These are our local councillors we elected. Until the recent publicity concerning the pools opening hours many local residents were unaware that this Pool was open and accessible to the Public. In summary, the current limited hours will ensure final closure of the Pool for local residents. The hours are too confusing and too limiting. We need to use local and public media to push the Shire to make changes to allow rate payers and residents to utilise this factility. Numerous attempts have been made to work with the Shire, however they appear unwilling to increase the hours at all. If we do not use the Pool, we lose it yes.... Q: How do we use the Pool, if it is closed for the majority of the time?

01.01.2022 have received a lot of interest stating we should start a petition. Would be very keen to hear from anyone who has had any experience with this and what is required please..... Also keen to hear from anyone who would be interested in helping to organise. Am sure if we can get a couple of people working on it, we can achieve great things.
