25.01.2022 Bee conference 1 day!!

24.01.2022 Did you know? Over 65% of Australian Agriculture and Horticulture is dependent on pollination by managed honey bee colonies. In order to maintain strong and h...ealthy honey bees for pollination, we require continuation of access to healthy native forest habitats. Our immediate future is under threat due to exclusion clauses in State Legislation prohibiting beekeepers from accessing National Park apiary sites, previously tenured under State Forestry land prior to their conversion into protected area estate. The Queensland beekeeping industry has been working for 20 years to resolve this exclusion clause and to date the industry has no surety on the continuation of access to Queensland National Park Apiary sites post 31 December 2024. Investment in our industry has now stalled until this matter can be resolved. This issue of access will ultimately jeopardise the production capacity of the 65% of Australian crops, dependent on strong, healthy honey bees for pollination and the employment opportunities and future jobs within the Ag sector. It must be stated that Beekeepers are the ultimate conservationists and the unrecognised contributors to producing the food on our plates. It has always been and remains in our best interests to protect, preserve and promote the health of habitats in our native forests for the future of our industry and the future for all Australians. In the coming weeks, leading up to the State Election, we’re calling on all Queenslanders to question their local state election candidates on what their plans are to resolve the access exclusion clauses for the beekeeping industry. Too many times our industry has been issued promises and verbal assurances our team will get the job done in an attempt or gesture to resolve this matter for the beekeeping industry, only for any progress on the issue to be held up by other more important priorities in Queensland. We’re actively seeking commitments from the major political parties in Queensland on the matter, sadly we are yet to receive any written commitments on the matter. What’s important to remember, is at the forefront of this matter, is the livelihood of generations of beekeeping families. Salt of the earth people, who go about the rigours of their daily work routines providing care for their much loved colonies and are somewhat blessed to work in the beauty of our stunning natural environment. They’re a quiet bunch of people, but are immensely proud of their continued contributions to producing world class honey and playing their part in helping our farming friends feed Australia’s growing population. We’ve included a link from our friends at Agrifutures below, it covers the crucial role our Australian honey bee industry plays in the fabric of Australian agriculture. Be certain to have a quick read make a point of asking your local candidates about their plans to resolve this persistent issue that continues to hang a dark and uncertain cloud over the future of our beekeeping families and the industry they proudly represent. Our honey bees and their beekeepers need your support, now more than ever. Please share this post to send a message to Queensland’s election candidates. Enough is enough. It’s time they take action to secure everyone’s right to world class honey and healthy Australian and Queensland grown produce. We are calling on everyday Queenslanders to help us to create a real, secure and sustainable future for our hard working beekeepers and their beautiful bees. We’re calling on the power of the people to raise awareness of this issue. You’re support on this issue will bring hope for a brighter and future for each and every one of us. #healthybeesneedhealthytrees #qldhoneybees #qbabees #queenslandbeekeeping #australianhoneybees #beesneedtrees #australianhoney #qldhoney #queenslandhoneybees

18.01.2022 I always hear of people saying aw derr a bee stung me, stupid bee or my child got stung by a bee & was allergic & died. Well how about YOU do the responsibl...e thing & cover yourself up so bees are unable to bite you! Every time a bee bites you, it’s teeth get stuck into your skins & pulls out their guts which kills them. No one cares if you got stung, YOU BEE MURDERER! My children always dress in the appropriate attire when we leave the house, leading by examples which is expected of any decent vegan family. Bees make ALL of our food so let’s protect these majestic animals by suiting up before leaving your house. Saint Sam

05.01.2022 Today is the day! We are decking the halls and sprinkling Christmas magic down Redcliffe Parade in preparation for tonight’s Redcliffe Twilight Markets. O...ur elves are up to their elf ears in tinsel and twinkles getting everything ready for a visit from Santa himself! He WAS supposed to check in with us earlier but we think he’s fallen in love with Redcliffe and is spending the morning doing what the locals do! When he’s finished making mischief around the waterfront, you’ll find him in Santa’s village from 6pm - 8.30pm between Anzac Ave & Bee Gees Way. With magicians, elves and music we have some wonderful festive entertainment! See our set times! Fireworks start at 8pm! You can get a cracking view from the following locations: Charlish Park Jetty Park Captain Cook Park Queens Beach South Queens Beach Osbourne Point We are ABSOLUTELY doggo friendly but to save the spooks we suggest taking any nervous nellies home before the the Fireworks. It’s all kicking off from 4pm!
