24.01.2022 FACT: I didn’t feel like exercising today. Not at all!! But you know what? That’s NORMAL because the truth is, no one has 100% motivation all day, every day. But what’s NOT ok (if you’re working toward something important) is letting that temporary lack of motivation get in the way of your success.... That’s part of the beauty of developing habits into your routine. This is so important because when motivation lags, the habit helps push you through even when (especially when) you don’t feel like doing something. When you’re busy it can be tempting to skip washing your produce but it’s definitely worth the time and energy especially when you think of all the food-borne illness outbreaks linked to produce over the past several years!... Here are some tips to streamline the process: 1. Wash your hands before and after washing the produce. This will help protect you (and your food) from any cross-contamination. 2. Wash your produce just before you use it. Storing damp produce encourages more bacterial growth. 3. Tap or distilled water is all you need no special soaps or other products! 4. Scrub root veggies (carrots, potatoes, etc.) with a brush to rid them of stubborn dirt/bacteria. 5. No, you probably don’t need to wash your pre-washed lettuce! Experts say if bacteria can survive industrial cleaning, it likely will survive your efforts too. 6. When you’re done, gently dry or blot your produce with a paper towel. 14.01.2022 A beautiful story to remind us to be thankful for things we may take for granted in our lives... A blind man sat on the steps of a building near a busy intersection. On his left was a sign that said, I’m blind, please help. On his right he had placed an upturned hat, in which there were just a couple of coins. A woman walked past, and she reached into her bag for a few coins to add. But before she continued on, she picked up his sign and flipped it over, writing a ne...w message before placing it back beside him. It wasn’t long before the hat began to fill up. A few hours later, the woman passed by again, and the man recognised the sound of her steps. He called out to her. Were you the person who changed my sign this morning? The woman stopped. I was. What did you write? The man asked. The woman told him, I wrote what you had written, except in a different way. I wrote, ‘Today is a beautiful day, but I cannot see it.’ Your sign told the truth, that you are blind. But the new sign helped people pay attention to the beauty of the day, and to be thankful for their sight. Take a moment to slow down and be grateful for today!
